Fly Aeolus is a Belgian air taxi (private charter) service that has operated in Europe since 2009. The company is based in Antwerp, with offices in Berlin and Rotterdam.
You can fly from over 1,500 airports across the European continent in one of their Cirrus SR-22 aircraft that’s considered one the safest single-engine jets in the aviation industry. Let’s see what else the company has to offer.
Topics
Company History
Fly Aeolus was established in 2009 by co-founders and aviation enthusiasts Stefaan Ghijs and Vincent Wigmans. Ghijs has a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering, while Wigmans had experience in the private aircraft repair industry.
The company’s first flight took place from Antwerp, Belgium, to Vichy, France in 2011. Fly Aeolus soon expanded the area of operations to include the entire continent, starting with destinations in Germany and Netherlands.
In 2015, Fly Aeolus established a partnership with the Belgian air taxi firm SkyCab, while in 2019 they founded Fly Aeolus Aircraft Sales and Acquisitions, a new branch of Fly Aeolus.
A fractional ownership arrangement is the foundation of the company’s service. Private owners make their planes available for hire and are paid a commission for each hour flown.
Pricing
Fly Aeolus charges a flat rate for all flights. Pricing is determined based on your travel itinerary – the circumstances of your journey, the flight hours, and if it’s one-way or round trip. If you want to spend less, the best way is to book a round trip on the same day, and you can always share the flight and divide the cost by bringing travel companions.
Fly Aeolus is run on a shared ownership basis. The company charges an entry fee of € 995,00 (excluding VAT) to new clients, making them a shareholder of an aircraft in the Fly Aeolus fleet. If you decide not to use their services after registration, Fly Aeolus will return the charge minus a €150.00 administration fee. You can have a trial flight before registration to experience the jet and see if it’s what you’re looking for.
Membership Programs
The Fly Aeolus membership programs intend to save passengers money and time for continental flights since all jets and pilots are already located in Europe, as they allow members to save 5-10% on flights compared to the retail cost for non-members. Let’s briefly explore them.
Pay As You Fly
You don’t have to be a member to fly with the Cirrus SR-22; there is an option to pay as you fly. Fly Aeolus has an online calculator that will help you plan and book your next trip, which you can access following this link for more detailed information.

Fly Aeolus offers the Business Membership program for frequent travelers. A monthly membership fee of €100,00 is required to become a member. You will get a 10% discount on all your flights, plus cancellation insurance and taxi booking assistance, all included in the price.
The Fleet

Fly Aeolus has a fleet of only Cirrus SR-22 aircraft. And this is not a coincidence – these planes are considered one of the safest single-engine jets in the aviation industry by the COPA (Cirrus Owners & Pilots Association) and AOPA (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association), thanks to the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System. Fly Aeolus is Europe’s largest Cirrus supplier, with 15 SR-22 aircraft in service, each of which can carry up to three passengers.
1. Light Private Jets
Light private jets are perfect for traveling to small airports and hard to reach locations, allowing you to visit inaccessible mountains and beautiful beaches.
Our Recommendation: The Cirrus SR22
A Cirrus SR22 is a composite jet manufactured by the Cirrus Aircraft in 2001. It’s a more powerful variant of the Cirrus CIRRUS SR-20, featuring a bigger wing and increased fuel capacity with fixed landing gear.
This is a four-seat aircraft (1 pilot and three passengers), designed to land at local airports. The Cirrus SR22 provides access to more than 1,500 airports around Europe, allowing you to land at local airports that commercial flights rarely visit.
The Cirrus airplanes have a baggage capacity of 10 kilograms per passenger and are the only aircraft with an emergency operations parachute system for the whole plane as standard equipment.
Specifications:
- Passengers: 3;
- Cabin width: 4 ft 1 in;
- Cabin volume: 137 cu ft;
- Cabin height: 4 ft 2 in;
- Cabin length: 8 ft;
- Internal baggage: 32 cu ft;
- Max speed: 186 kts;

Cancellation Insurance
Fly Aeolus offers cancellation insurance, which costs €200 (excluded Value Added Tax), that allows you to cancel or postpone your flight if your plans are disrupted by an unforeseen occurrence.
If you don’t wish to pay for the cancellation insurance cost and your flight is canceled or postponed after confirmation, you will be subject to additional charges. If you cancel your flight between 7 days and 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure time, Fly Aeolus will charge a fee of 25% of the total flight expenses. If the cancelation happens between 24 to 5 hours prior flight, the company will charge a cancellation fee of 50% of the total flight expenses. A cancellation fee of 100% of the total flight expenses will be charged if you cancel less than 5 hours before your scheduled departure time or if you don’t show up.
De-icing Insurance

This type of insurance will come in handy, especially during the colder months. Fly Aeolus advises you to take this service prior to take-off.
During winter, the air taxi can become covered in ice or snow, and any ice and snow must be cleaned before it can take off. The associated costs are difficult to predict, so the company provides a few de-icing insurance options based on the danger of icing to put your mind at ease.
- Until five days before departure, the de-icing insurance will cost you €150,00 (excluded VAT) for a one way flight.
- Between 5 and 72 hours before departure, this insurance will cost you €250,00 (excl. VAT) for a one-way trip.
- Between 72 and 24 hours before departure, you will need to pay up to €350,00 (excl. VAT) for a one-way de-icing insurance.
If you don’t pick one of the choices from above, you will be billed all necessary de-icing fees after the trip.
Fly Aeolus Taxi Service
Fly Aeolus can make a cab reservation for you with one of their frequent taxi partners. Let them know your destination, and they will make sure the taxi is waiting for you when you arrive at the airport. If someone is picking you up from the airport, the company offers to send your specific flight data so that your friends or family can track the air taxi in real-time.
Pet Policy
When flying commercial, you can bring your pet in the aircraft if the carrier length is less than 47 cm, its width less than 30 cm, and its height less than 27 cm. The pet must also be beneath your seat in a designated carrier and not weigh more than 10 kilograms. For safety concerns, you can’t open the carrier or relocate it. This seems to be the biggest disadvantage they have compared to other private charter carriers, but it’s still preferable to flying them in the cargo department on a commercial flight.
Taking your pet on your private flight is a totally different story. Fly Aeolus treats any pet who flies with them like a guest, making sure your pet enjoys a calm and pleasant journey.
Your pet won’t be imprisoned in the luggage compartment; they can snuggle up next to you on a blanket, and you can be sure that your pet is comfortable and safe.
Although you may travel with your pet, pet travel implies some advance planning.You can follow this link for additional info for transporting your pet with Aeolus.
Company Safety Policy and Standards
All of their planes are examined on a regular basis, and the pilots are medically checked yearly. Aside from that, all aircraft are equipped with a CAPS (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System), which is a whole-plane ballistic parachute recovery system built exclusively for Cirrus aircraft.
Company Staff
The Aeolus staff includes experts from a variety of business aviation fields and qualified Cirrus pilots and instructors. All Fly Aeolus pilots hold commercial pilot license (CPL) or an aircraft flying pilot licenses (ATPL), have 500 hours or more flight time, and have undergone the Cirrus SR22 training program.
Conclusion

Fly Aeolus is the first firm in Europe to use a fractional ownership model to provide air taxi services utilizing single piston aircraft. The firm also offers three distinct jet card programs and gives access to more than 1,000 small airports across Europe using its Cirrus SR22 fleet. If you want to go sightseeing or you are traveling with just a couple of companions, Fly Aeolus is your air taxi service.
