Company History

After decades of managing and operating renowned aircraft firms, Dan Drohan, an ATP-rated pilot experienced in flying a variety of business aircraft, established Solairus in 2009. Solairus swiftly developed into one of the industry’s most trusted aircraft management organizations, thanks to his ambition, great service, and outstanding marketing skills.

Based in Petaluma, California, Solairus Aviation employs over 1,500 people and maintains one of the nation’s largest managed business aircraft fleets. It serves clients worldwide and is backed by management teams under Drohan’s guidance, who is the CEO of the company.

The Fleet

The private charter fleet at Solairus Aviation offers a wide range of planes – from regional turboprops to intercontinental large-cabin corporate jets. Let’s explore their fleet.

1. Turboprops

Turboprop charters are used by passengers across the country for short or medium-haul trips. Since they can access tiny airports that jets cannot, these moderate planes are ideal for flying to hard-to-reach destinations and mountain ranges.

Turboprops have exceptional adaptability, efficiency, dependability, and flexibility. Thanks to these features, they are one of the most widely used turbine-powered aircrafts today.

Our Recommendation: The Pilatus PC-12 NG – LVK

PC-12 NG’s spacious cabin and precise Swiss construction and design, provide a comfortable and stylish flight. The low cost, fast speed, and short-field capabilities make The Pilatus a great choice for private flyers.

Specifications:

  • Flight range: 2,445 nautical miles;
  • Average speed: 327 mph;
  • Cabin height: 4 ft;
  • Cabin width: 5 ft;
  • Cabin length: 16 ft 11 in;
  • Baggage capacity: 40 cu ft;
  • Passengers: 6;
  • 110V outlets and USB ports.

Pilatus PC-12 NG is the only turboprop you can lease from Solarius Aviation’s private jet fleet.

2. Midsize Private Jets

Midsized aircraft typically measure around 19 feet in length and are outfitted with unique facilities for optimal comfort, taking flying to the next level. They can handle short and long-range flights, with a flight range of more than 2,000 nm – or roughly five hours of nonstop flying.

Two pilots can operate these planes that usually come with a flight attendant, a complete kitchenette, and a bathroom. Some members of the midsize category are even furnished with a shower and divans that unfold into beds. When we compare them to heavy jets, midsize private planes can land at smaller airports (which is not the case for heavy ones) and are less expensive.

Our Recommendation: Citation Excel XLS+

Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, you will experience a flawless journey onboard the Citation Excel XLS+. The aircraft can fit eight people. You will enjoy elements like sliding headrests, fold-out tables, and a sofa. The two air conditioning units keep the cabin at a comfortable, consistent temperature no matter the weather outside.

Specifications:

  • Free L5 GOGO WIFI;
  • Can accommodate up to eight passengers;
  • Cabin climate control available;
  • Forward galley;
  • Flight range: 1,950 nm;
  • Cruising speed: 480 mph;
  • Cabin height: 5 ft 7 in;
  • Cabin width: 5ft 5 in;
  • Cabin length: 18 ft 5 in;
  • Baggage – Interior: 10 cu ft;
  • Baggage – Exterior: 70 cu ft.

Solarius offers other midsize jets like Citation Excel XLS, Citation Sovereign,  PlaneHawker 900XP, Challenger 300, and Challenger 350.

3. Large Private Jets

The final category of jets provided by Solairus offers a great range and more cabin space. They are perfect for more distant destinations and bigger parties that come with more luggage. The members of the heavy aircraft class have a flight range of 3 to 4,000 miles and a flying capability of nine hours nonstop. Sleek jets in this class include Challenger 605, Gulfstream 400 series, and our recommendation – The Falcon 2000.

Our Recommendation: Falcon 2000

The Falcon 2000 is a smaller variant of the Falcon 900, combining great performance and accessibility. It can carry up to ten passengers and promises a comfortable and fun flight.

Specifications:

  • Free domestic WiFi;
  • Seating for up to 10 passengers;
  • Media server with iPad movies;
  • DVD/CD player;
  • Range (statute miles): 3,600;
  • Cruising speed (mph): 528;
  • Cabin height: 6.2 ft;
  • Width 7.7 ft, length 26 ft;
  • Baggage interior: 131 cu ft.
