Spain has many wonderful places that are worth visiting, Barcelona and Ibiza definitely being at the top of the list. Combining the two will give a special note to your trip, and there is nothing easier than traveling from coastal Barcelona to Ibiza, as these two places are well connected.
The two cities are very close to one another, and even a car ride is worth taking. However, hiring a private jet is certainly the fastest and most comfortable way to get there. In this article, I’m going to cover the most important aspects of renting a jet, such as prices, estimated flight time, types of jets, and so on, so read on.

Barcelona to Ibiza: Overview
There are some 350 miles between the two locations, meaning that a 7-hour car ride will get you there. However, if you want to get there in some 40 minutes, more or less, while being quite comfortable, a private jet is the way to go.
The good thing here is that the two cities are so close that speed doesn’t play a big factor in deciding which plane you’re going to rent. Turboprops are usually much slower than other jets, but in this case, it will maybe take you 20 minutes more to reach Ibiza by such an aircraft.
The price range for renting a private jet on the Barcelona – Ibiza route spans from 3,000 EUR to 18,000 EUR, or more if you want extra services or extra space in the cabin. Prices are tough to determine when flying private due to the endless number of factors that impact the final number, such as date and time of flying, size and model of the jet, overnights planned, etc.
A positive thing regarding the two cities is that they’re both used to welcoming VIPs, so there’s infrastructure suitable for private flying. You’ll happen to find amazing fixed-base operators (FBOs) or private terminals in both locations.
Pricing Options
As briefly mentioned above, prices are quite hard to determine since they depend on a lot of factors, like the company you’re booking with, as most will only give you their estimated prices after you’ve specifically contacted them and requested a quote.
The prices that are portrayed below are written as seen from The Aviation Factory.
Average Prices From Barcelona to Ibiza
Aircraft type | Number of passengers | Barcelona to Ibiza route price | Estimated flight time |
Turboprop | 4 – 19 | 7,000 EUR | 55 minutes |
Light jet | 4 – 11 | 3,500 EUR | 45 minutes |
Midsize jet | 6 – 10 | 7,000 EUR | 40 minutes |
Heavy jet | 4 – 72 | 8,500 EUR | 40 minutes |
As you’ve probably noticed from the table, a light jet is a pretty good option for this route if you’re flying with this company, but it all depends on the model that you’ll be choosing. I’ll talk more about specific makes in the paragraphs below, but first, let’s see what FBOs are on offer.
Barcelona to Ibiza Airports
Barcelona is a worldwide famous tourist destination with millions of people visiting it every year. There is, however, only one airport in Barcelona, the El Prat de Llobregat Aeropuerto, or simply called Barcelona Airport.
Barcelona Airport (El Prat)
El Prat has a pretty great location, only 8 miles away from the city center. In terms of transportation, you need about 25 minutes to reach it by car, but almost double that time if you opt for private transportation.
However, private flying is well-developed at this airport, with many FBOs operating. Jetex is one of them, with an FBO that will meet all your expectations. You’ll find beautiful lounges and showers, but also under-the-wing services such as fueling arrangements, maintenance, or storage.
You could also consider the FBO run by ExecuJet. Just like you probably expect, you will be handled well at this terminal. This one, in particular, has the so-called “VIP catering on-demand”, meaning that all you have to do is inform the personnel on time on what your wishes are, and they will surely be met.
General Aviation Services is a widely developed FBO network and you can find them throughout Spain as well. They offer 5-star services and also have a private terminal running in Ibiza, making this FBO another great choice.
Another amazing FBO is the one run by Universal Aviation. This fixed-base operator has big VIP lounges, separate for the crew and passengers, so you can have your privacy. You can order catering arrangements or transport services if you wish, and the crew is there to help you with anything you need.
Our last recommendation is the FBO run by Skyvalet. Those traveling privately on a regular basis know that this private terminal offers only the best high-end services for its VIP clientele. The company is also present at Ibiza Airport.
Ibiza Airports
I mentioned at the beginning of this article that Ibiza, just like Barcelona, has one airport to serve the needs of those flying in and out of the island. It’s called Aeropuerto de Ibiza, known as Ibiza Airport (IBZ).
The airport is located only 6 miles away from the central point of Ibiza, which makes it even closer to the center than the Barcelona airport, respectively. You need about 20 minutes to reach the airport by car, and there are just enough FBOs within the airport that you could use to fly private.
Sky Valet is one of them and it probably has the best concierge services since they have a customized VIP welcome. You can tell them in advance what your desires are, what your favorite foods, drinks, or activities are, and based on that data, the personnel will customize your stay.
Moreover, feel free to ask the staff to assist you with anything, such as renting you a ride, a heli or a limo, or booking you a table at the restaurant.
Avia Partner could also be your FBO of choice when visiting the island. The staff here will help you with anything, including assistance regarding your jet. This would include refueling, maintaining, or fixing your jet if needed, as well as storage at some of the hangars.
The facility itself has surprisingly huge lounges in terms of surface area, a shiny kitchen, showers, conference rooms, the list goes on.
Which Jet Models Can Fly You to Ibiza From Barcelona?
Jet sizes and jet models are not the same thing. A certain model from the light jets category could be a better, faster, or even more expensive choice than a particular model from the midzise jets category.
For this route, any jet size or model will do. However, just like everything else in life, some things are better and more appealing than others. Let’s see what options you have in terms of jet models for the Barcelona – Ibiza route.
Small (Turboprops, Light Jets) and Midsize Jets
Small planes include turboprops and light jets. Turboprops can be a good deal on many occasions because they are usually more affordable even though a bit slower than the rest. In this case, their velocity won’t matter since the route is too short to notice the minor flight time difference. I’ve been looking at prices at the Air Charter Service, and here’s what we have.
The Piaggio Avanti II is a turboprop that has great features and is quite fast for a turboprop. It has a cabin that can comfortably fit 7 people, it has ventilation allowing smokers to enjoy the flight in their own way, and is pet-friendly. It will reach Ibiza in 45 minutes, and costs around 8,000 EUR to rent.
Another turboprop option would be the King Air 250GT which has more or less the same characteristics as the Avanti. This jet needs ten more minutes to reach the destination and costs 1,000 EUR more to rent. The cabin is about the same size, allowing for 7 people to travel in complete comfort.
Air Charter actually has some good deals for light jets, such as the Citation Mustang, an extremely suave jet made for four people. It’s also smokers and pet-friendly. It’ll take you from Barcelona to Ibiza in 45 minutes, and it costs some 4,000 EUR to rent.
My second choice for a light jet would be the Citation CJ1+. This jet has a very comfortable cabin made to fit a total of six people. It’s a bit faster than the Mustang, so you will be at Ibiza Airport in 40 minutes. It’s also a bit cheaper, as you’ll spend 3,500 EUR approximately to rent this jet.
But if you choose to go with a midsize jet, it means that you’re either a bigger party, or you simply want more comfort. The Gulfstream G-200, per se, has a very nice cabin for 10 people with comfortable seats and a table that you can use for dinner up in the air. It needs 40 minutes to reach Ibiza from Barcelona and will cost you some 8,000 EUR to rent it.
The Citation Latitude would also be a good choice for a midsize jet since it has a wide cabin with amenities that will allow you to relax, have lunch, or simply chat with your co-travelers. The cabin is big enough to fit nine people, and there’s Internet access. To fly from Barcelona to Ibiza it needs 40 minutes and will cost you around 10,000 EUR to hire it for this trip.
Heavy Jets
You might hear people saying that it’s “too much” to take a heavy jet for a trip under one hour, but who’s to say? Hiring a heavy jet only means that the comfort level will rise and that you’ll be there faster.
The Falcon 2000 is a pretty good heavy jet that is meant to take just enough people that will enjoy the ride to the fullest. The cabin is designed to take 10 people, although in theory there is room for more. It’s very modern and cozy and needs 45 minutes to reach Ibiza. The price to pay to hire this jet is around 16,000 EUR.
Another heavy jet that could be a great choice for a larger group is the Gulfstream G-V. This jet has a cabin that can fit up to 16 people, has very comfy seats, and WiFi. To pass the route it needs 40 minutes and the rental price is around 17,000 EUR.
You could also consider the Challenger 605 for your trip if you’re willing to pay some 18,000 EUR. It’s a famous jet with a walk-around cabin for 12 people. The estimated flight time is 40 minutes, just like the G-V.

Conclusion
There are few things in the world that bring so much satisfaction like visiting Ibiza after Barcelona. Since you’ll be enjoying this route, there are a couple of things that you should remember so your trip runs in the best way possible.
Know that hiring the right jet means finding a jet that will be right the size for your party, and will meet your budget expectations. In this case, if you’re ready to spend up to 18,000 EUR, you don’t have to worry. The flight takes about 40 minutes, or some 10 minutes more by most turboprops. Barcelona and Ibiza are cities that are often visited by celebrities and other VIPs, so finding an FBO that you’ll like shouldn’t be an issue.
Now that you have all the essential info, the only thing left to say is happy travels!
