Many things can take you to Lisbon – the friendly locals, sunny weather, colorful architecture, or the longing rhythm of the Fado, the country’s most representative music genre, to name a few. This heart-warming city will remain in your memory for a long time, whether the purpose of your trip is professional or leisurely.
While it’s exciting to plan a private flight from London to Lisbon, you must be aware of many aspects, like jet sizes and models, FBOs, and so on, so it all goes smoothly. For that reason, we’ll go over everything you need to know so you can rent a private jet stress-free, so let’s get started.
Topics
London to Lisbon: Overview
There is quite a distance between the two cities, almost 1,400 miles which take around one full day to drive there.
A private jet, on the other hand, will take you from London to Lisbon in some two and a half hours, except for a turboprop jet which is quite slower due to the propellers being outside of the engine cabin. Such a jet will surely need over 3 hours to reach Lisbon.
To rent a private jet from the British capital to Lisbon, you’ll need some £8,000 (9,500 EUR) to £28,000 (33,000 EUR), depending on the type and size of jet you’ll opt for. We’ll go over the different jet sizes and models below so that you can make an informed decision and choose the most suitable jet for you, price and comfort-wise.
Lastly, as a private flyer, you’ll be looking for private airports, or fixed-base operators (FBOs), to host and operate your flight. London is a city full of airports and private handlers, so you won’t have a problem finding one, while Lisbon has fewer but enough options.

Pricing Options
The price range above gives you an idea of how much you could spend on hiring a private jet. However, there are many factors that impact the final price, such as time and date of travel, model and size of the jet, and extra services, to name a few.
Most companies will only give you a price estimate only after you’ve specifically asked for it. The Aviation Factory doesn’t condition you with a quote, so I’ve been using the data from its official website for the purpose of this article.
London to Lisbon Average Flight Prices
Aircraft type | Number of passengers | London to Lisbon route price | Estimated flight time |
Turboprop | 4 – 19 | £9,000 / 10,500 EUR | 3 hours 40 minutes |
Light jet | 4 – 11 | £11,000 / 13,000 EUR | 2 hours 35 minutes |
Midsize jet | 6 – 10 | £15,000 / 17,500 EUR | 2 hours 25 minutes |
Heavy jet | 4 – 96 | £16,000 / 19,000 EUR | 2 hours 25 minutes |
If you take a look at the last row, you’ll notice how wide the seating range is with heavy jets – up to 96 people. The fact is that jets that can fit over 20 passengers are called airliners and are rarely used for private flying, so when we talk about heavy jets towards the end of the article, we’re referring to those that can accommodate up to 20 passengers.
London to Lisbon Airports
As I briefly mentioned in the overview chapter, London has many FBOs on offer due to the five or six airports in its surroundings, so let’s briefly review them.

From London Heathrow to Lisbon
Let’s start with the UK’s finest, the well-known Heathrow Airport which is in charge of most international and domestic flights in the country. In fact, it operates over 1,000 flights each day, summing up to 80 million passengers annually.
When compared to the other airports that serve London’s flying demands, it’s quite close to the city’s central area. From Victoria Station, the central bus and train station in London, you’ll need about half an hour to reach the airport building.
Heathrow Airport is a commercial airport that has some VIP spaces with computers, snacks, and drinks, but there aren’t many FBOs around it.
However, it is possible to fly private from Heathrow Airport and you’ll be lucky to do so. The FBO run by Signature Flight Support is a famous and highly-appreciated private terminal, which is often used by Royals and Heads of State, and that’s all the info you need to know of its exclusivity and impeccable service.
From London Farnborough to Lisbon
If you want to take your time, have a quiet airport terminal just for yourself, then I think
Farnborough is a perfect choice. It’s a bit further away, so you could actually spend an hour and a half to reach this private airport. Technically, you’ll be breaching the borders of London and find yourselves in Rushmoor, Hampshire.
Farnborough Airport is an award-winning, pet-friendly business jet hub that operates daily flights. The facility is very modern and equipped with cozy lounges, chargers for electric vehicles, resting rooms, and separate lounges for the crew.
From London Biggin Hill to Lisbon
Biggin Hill is a private airport like Farnborough, which is probably the preferred type of airport for private flyers, the difference being that Biggin Hill has one of its terminals sublet to Signature Flight Support. The other one is run by a department within the company’s organization – the Biggin Hill Executive Handling team.
If you visit you’ll notice how all services are easily reachable. You could rent an air taxi that will take you from the city center and transfer you to the terminal in 6 minutes. This will come in handy and save you so much time in driving.
The airport also offers jet maintenance, storage, or fueling.
From London Stansted to Lisbon
If you drive for about an hour from London in the northeastern direction, you’ll find Stansted Airport, which might be the best option for a private flyer. It’s not a private airport, but it has many FBOs operating there, making it even more attractive than a private airport.
Since there are a lot of ground handlers and FBOs near Stansted, take a good look at this list, and I’m sure you’ll find something you like:
- Fayair Ltd;
- Infinite Jet Center;
- X Jet London;
- London Jet Center;
- Universal Aviation;
- Diamond Hangar Ltd;
- Antonov Airlines UK;
- North Air Ltd;
- Harrods Aviation;
- Ruslan International;
- Titan Airways;
- London Jet Charter;
- Inflite The Jet Center;
- NATS Jet Stansted;
- Aeronexus;
- GT Engine Services;
- Swissport.
From London Luton to Lisbon
London Luton is another famous local airport but operates low-budget company flights, like Wizz Air. It’s located some 40 miles away from the center, and it takes you about an hour by car to reach it. As you can see, this is the average distance between London’s center and its airports.
Apart from low-budget airline companies, you’ll find private terminals as well. The biggest FBO network in the world, Signature Flight Support, runs two of the best private terminals in the UK, T1, and T2. Expect nothing but VIP treatment, luxurious lounges, concierge, as well as more business-oriented spaces.
Another choice could be Harrods Aviation whose premises you can find nearby. You’ll get an executive lounge among other high-end amenities and services such as snacks, drinks, reading materials, and more. Harrods also offers under-the-wing services, such as jet maintenance or fueling.
Lisbon Airports
Most international and domestic flights to and from Lisbon are carried out at one single airport – Humberto Delgado Airport, or simply Lisbon Airport.
Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS)
Lisbon Airport is the most famous airport in Portugal and is in charge of all domestic and international flights, as well as private ones. It’s located very close to the city center, only 6 miles away, and you can reach it with a 20 – 30 minute drive.
Private flyers have the opportunity to use some of the FBOs located in the area. The most praised one is the one run by OMNI Handling. This private terminal has a highly professional staff that will handle all your needs.
You can enjoy in the spacious private lounges, separately from the crew, or have a quick shower and entertain yourself with some reading materials or TV. If you feel hungry or snacky, make sure to let the personnel know and they’ll fix you up.
Another FBO that is significant to Lisbon Airport is operated by Sky Valet. Just as you would expect, the terminal provides excellent VIP treatment, with a magnificent VIP lounge, a fancy restaurant, catering, and other services, such as limo rental or accommodation.

Which Planes Can You Fly to Lisbon From London?
Most modern-day jets are made with at least 2,000 miles of distance range, so a trip from London to Lisbon can be accomplished with any type of jet in one go. The only thing that would separate the jets by quality is speed and comfort.
Small (Turboprops, Light Jets) and Midsize Jets
For example, a turboprop plane will not provide you with much comfort, the trip will last longer. However, it will not set you back by much, as these jets prove to be cost-efficient.
The Piper M600 is a turboprop I’d recommend. This one has the capacity to reach Lisbon Airport in 3 hours and 15 minutes. The cabin is big enough to fit 5 people and a pet, and you’d all together have to pay some £9,000 / 10,500 EUR to rent it.
If not the M600, the King Air B200 is always a good choice for a turboprop. The cabin can fit up to nine people, but it’s quite slower as it needs 3 hours and 40 minutes to fly from London to Lisbon. Also, the price is around £12,500 / 14,500 EUR, but that’s less than the M600 when full capacity is reached.
A light jet will take you to Lisbon faster, and in most cases, in a more comfortable space. The Citation M2 is a very good choice for such a jet. It needs 2 hours and 35 minutes to fly from London to Lisbon and has a pretty wide cabin for 6 people. To rent it, you’d need some £11,500 / 13,500 EUR.
Another jet of the sort that you could consider is the Citation CJ3. It’s just 5 minutes quicker than the M2 on this route but also costs more to rent, standing at some £15,500 / 18,000 EUR. It’s quite comfortable and all-in-all a good choice for 8 people who are smokers and have a pet.
However, a midsize jet will take both speed and comfort further. The Learjet 75 is a pet-friendly jet with WiFi access suitable for 9 persons. It’s highly comfortable and needs 2 hours 25 minutes to reach Lisbon. You could rent it for some £13,500 / 16,000 EUR.
Another midsize variant could be the Citation XLS, which is also comfortably used by 9 people and is equipped with nice and comfy seats. It costs around £16,000 / 19,000 EUR to rent and has an estimated flight time of two and a half hours.
Heavy Jets
I’m sure it’s not a secret that heavy jets provide the most comfortable flying experience. They cost a bit more as well, so let’s see some great heavy jets that would be suitable for your trip from London to Lisbon.
The Legacy 600 is a superb heavy jet with a beautiful wide cabin that fits 13 passengers. The seats are very comfortable and you’ll be able to walk around the cabin. It needs 2 hours and 25 minutes to reach Lisbon and costs some £18,000 / 21,000 EUR to rent.
This category offers so many beautiful jets, such as the Challenger 605. This jet is so comfortable it even has a sofa that you can use as a bed. It’s as fast as the Legacy above and has a seating capacity of 12 people, but costs £20,000 / 23,500 EUR to rent.
Finally, a recommendation for those who don’t mind spending a few extra bucks. The Falcon 2000 will make your trip to Lisbon fast and wonderful. It has a beautiful cabin for 10 people at most, where each passenger has ultimate comfort and freedom of movement. It needs 2 hours and 20 minutes to fly from London to Lisbon, for some £26,500 / 30,500 EUR.

You want to find an FBO that will meet your standards, and preferably be close to you. You can spend anywhere from £8,000 (9,500 EUR) to £28,000 (33,000 EUR) for hiring a jet, and this can easily go higher as your appetite for more comfort and style grows.
