Kiev is a wonderful city with plenty of historical landmarks and represents an important Eastern European cultural center. And as more and more people are starting to explore the other side of the Iron Curtain, there are more and more flight options available between Europe and The Commonwealth of Independent States.
If you don’t plan on staying too long in Ukraine, the best way to travel is by private jet. In this article, I’ll go over the most important aspects regarding your flight, such as prices, jet sizes and models, private airports and FBOs, and more, so let’s get started.

London to Kiev: Overview
From London, Kiev is some 1,600 miles to the east, which translates into a non-stop 30-hour drive, or a two-day trip with a few breaks. So, if you want to save yourself a lot of time and be as comfortable as you can while traveling, a private jet will take you from London to Kiev in some 3 hours and give you all the space you need. However, if you opt for a turboprop plane, which has propellers outside of the engine cabin slowing it down, you might need over 4 hours to pass this route.
Such a one-way trip would cost you from some £12,000 (14,000 EUR) to about £24,000 (28,000 EUR) if you don’t have any ultra-luxury requests. We recommend going for a midsize jet, but since such a distance can be covered by any type of jet, you can have your pick according to your preferences.
Flying private also means that you’ll be seeking a private airport or a private terminal within a commercial airport, or as a separate facility. These are called fixed-base operators (FBOs) and London has a plethora of them, but you’ll have no trouble finding one in Kiev as well, as it’s a metropolis of some 3 million people.

Pricing Options
Roughly, you and your party should be okay with some £20,000. However, prices in this sphere vary a lot and are dependent on many factors, such as time and date of travel, type and model of the jet, along with other variables.
Finding a price online is also tricky, as most companies will only reveal them after you send them an official request or quote. The prices below are as seen from the official website of The Aviation Factory.
London to Kiev Average Flight Prices
Aircraft type | Number of passengers | London to Kiev route price | Estimated flight time |
Turboprop | 4 – 12 | £14,500 / 17,000 EUR | 4 hours 30 minutes |
Light jet | 4 – 11 | £12,000 / 14,000 EUR | 3 hours 15 minutes |
Midsize jet | 5 – 10 | £15,000 / 17,500 EUR | 3 hours 5 minutes |
Heavy jet | 4 – 96 | £19,000 / 22,000 EUR | 3 hours |
As you can see from the table above, a bigger and faster plane doesn’t necessarily mean more expensive. There are always other, subtle factors that you have to take into consideration, such as cabin comfort, year of make of the model, crew size, and so on. I guess that The Aviation Factory is saying that they have some pretty good turboprops on disposal since they’re charging more for one, compared to a light jet, for example.
London to Kiev Airports
As briefly mentioned before, London has more than enough fixed-base operators (FBOs) that you can choose from. There is also an option for completely private airports as these are usually the most comfortable and stress-free facilities.
Kiev has somewhat fewer options for private flying, but still enough. It’s my impression that finding a private terminal for your flight should be the least of your concerns if you were to have any.

From London Heathrow to Kiev
I’m sure you’ve heard of Heathrow Airport since it’s the airport that’s most likely to pop up in your mind when in London. This is the UK’s busiest airport that operates around 1,300 flights each day, accumulating 80 million passengers per year.
It’s also the airport whose location is most favorable for people who have the city center as a starting point. In 30 minutes you’ll already reach Heathrow and then you can proceed with your activities related to your private flight.
Even though this isn’t the most vibrant place in terms of FBOs, the ones that are in its surroundings are the best of the best. For example, Signature Flight Support runs an FBO that has been the choice for many Heads of State and Royals so far.
This FBO has everything a VIP passenger would need, from computer rooms to snacks and drinks. If time serves you right, you could even have a couple of swings down at the nearby golf courts.
From London Luton to Kiev
London Luton is the country’s fifth busiest airport, even though it only has one terminal, which is mostly due to it operating flights by low-budget airline companies.
Luton is a bit further away than Heathrow, meaning that about an hour is needed to be reached from Victoria Station by car, but it’s well connected to the center via public transportation.
And just like Heathrow, even though it doesn’t offer a lot of FBOs, the ones in its surroundings are some of the nation’s best. Signature Flight Support’s FBOs, the T1 and T2, are such examples. The first one has been famous for being the most visited SFS terminal outside of the USA. The terminal offers amazing VIP treatment, huge lounges, concierge services, and of course, meeting and conference rooms if business is on your mind and you have some time to spare.
In case you want to use a different provider, consider Harrods Aviation which also runs a fantastic high-end private terminal at London Luton. Its executive lounge is superb, equipped with food, drinks, newspapers, and other features. This company offers ground handling as well in terms of maintenance of jet, storage, or fueling.
From London Farnborough to Kiev
Farnborough is a perfect choice for flying if you don’t mind driving or riding the extra mile. To reach it from London’s central area, you’d need about an hour and a half, since this private airport breaches the city borders and officially belongs to Rushmoor, Hampshire.
It’s known to be a business jet hub operating daily. The airport is very exclusive, comprising beautiful lounges, separate for the crew and passengers, resting areas, charger for electric cars, and even a gaming room if that’s your poison.
This is an award-winning airport where I’m sure you’ll feel completely cozy. It’s pet-friendly and upon request, you can have access to the meeting or conference rooms.
From London Stansted to Kiev
London Stansted is said to be one of the best choices for private travelers, in terms of commercial airports. The distance is similar to London Luton, with a slight change of direction from west to east. That means that the airport located some 40 miles away from Victoria Station can be reached in about an hour by car.
The airport is known to have plenty of FBOs within the building and the surroundings. Without further adieu, here’s a list of ground handlers and FBOs that you can encounter at Stansted Airport:
- Fayair Ltd;
- Infinite Jet Center;
- X Jet London;
- London Jet Center;
- Universal Aviation;
- Diamond Hangar Ltd;
- Antonov Airlines UK;
- North Air Ltd;
- Harrods Aviation;
- Ruslan International;
- Titan Airways;
- London Jet Charter;
- Inflite The Jet Center;
- NATS Jet Stansted;
- Aeronexus;
- GT Engine Services;
- Swissport.
From London Biggin Hill to Kiev
Like Farnborough, Biggin Hill is another private airport where you could find your perfect FBO. There are two terminals, each run by a different management team. One is handled by the airport’s Biggin Hill Executive Handling team, while the other is run by Signature Flight Support.
The most important thing to note here is that Biggin Hill will surely reach up to your expectations. Various services will be at your disposal, such as an air taxi that can take you to London’s center in six minutes, or you can just relax in the cozy and spacious VIP lounge.
If you need under-the-wing services, don’t worry, because Biggin Hill’s respective team can make sure to have your aircraft fueled, maintained, and stored for future flights.
Kiev Airports
Kiev is a big city that is home to some 3 million people and has three main airports, of which two are mainly taken into consideration when we’re talking about private flying. The airports in question are Boryspil International Airport and Kyiv Zhulyany Airport.
Boryspil International Airport (UKBB)
Boryspil is Kiev’s most famous and busiest airport, as it operates most of the country’s international flights. It’s located some 22 miles away from the city center, which means that you need some 45 minutes to reach it by car.
The most common choice for an FBO when flying from or to this airport is the one run by Air Link International. Apart from VIP concierge services, spacious lounges, refreshments, and snacks, you can get under-the-wing services like aircraft maintenance, fueling, or storage.
Kyiv Zhulyany Airport (UKKK)
Zhulyany Airport, also called Kiev International Airport, or just Kiev Airport, is the most convenient business jet airport in Kiev. Most FBOs are located within the airport building or the surroundings.
The most famous provider of such services is Jetex, located at the Business Terminal B. At this FBO, you can be sure to get all the services you wish for, such as concierge, transportation, lounges, as well as under-the-wing services.

Which Planes Can You Fly to Kiev From London?
As I said, Kiev is pretty distanced from London, but not that much, so any type of jet size can take you there. I’d say that at least a midsize jet should be your choice for this three-hour flight, but there are good offers in terms of light and turboprop planes as well.
Small (Turboprops, Light Jets) and Midsize Jets
Since this route can definitely be passed by turboprops as well, allow me to give you a few recommendations. I’d say that the Piaggio Avanti II would be a great choice for such a plane. It needs almost 4 hours to reach Kiev, and can take 7 passengers on board, including a pet. The price to rent this jet is somewhere around £14,500 / 17,000 EUR.
If not the Piaggio, consider the King Air 250. The plane has the same seating capacity as the former one but needs a bit more time to reach Kiev – 4 hours and 20 minutes. The interior is equipped with excellent comfortable seats, and the price to rent it is some £16,500 / 19,500 EUR.
On the other hand, a light jet should give you more comfort and speed. For instance, the Citation Bravo is always a good choice because it can take a maximum of 9 people, and it’s good for smokers due to the ventilation in the jet. The rental price is reasonable at some £13,500 / 16,000 EUR, as the jet needs 3 hours and 30 minutes to pass the route.
Another light jet worth recommending is the Citation CJ2. This jet is a bit more expensive than the Bravo, but is also a tiny bit faster. In other words, it will reach Kiev in 3 hours and 20 minutes, and can fit 7 people who will be able to smoke inside, plus there is a possibility to bring your furry friend along. Prepare to pay some £14,000 / 16,500 EUR to hire this jet.
As I said, a midsize plane would be the best choice for such a flight. Take into consideration the Citation XLS, a midsize jet famous for a reason. This plane has the capacity to comfortably fit 9 people, and it’s pet-friendly. The estimated flight time is 3 hours and 10 minutes, the fastest one so far, and costs some £17,000 / 20,000 EUR to rent.
In case you want to try a different midsize jet, check out the Learjet 60. This incredibly comfortable jet can take 8 people in its walk-around cabin and a pet, while providing WiFI access and being suitable for smokers. The rental price tag on this one is some £19,500 / 23,000 EUR, and it needs exactly 3 hours to fly from London to Kiev.
Heavy Jets
Obviously, a heavy jet will provide you with even more comfort than a midsize. It will also cost you more, but you’ll also be able to take a bigger party with you.
One of the better heavy jet models is the Challenger 850. People choose this jet so often for a reason. It can fit 15 people in a huge cabin where all sorts of interactions are possible. The rental price is a bit higher at some £20,500 / 24,000 EUR, but the jet will take you to Kiev in 3 hours and 5 minutes.
Another heavy jet worth mentioning is the Legacy 600, which falls into the same price category as the Challenger 850. The cabin is wide and cozy, fitting 13 people. It’s suitable for smokers and in terms of estimated flight time, it’s identical to the 850.

Prices Per Plane Type: Overview
Below, you will find a table that gives the prices per jet model.
