Las Vegas is a pure phenomenon. Being a city with a population of some 500,000 in the ‘80s, Las Vegas has rapidly grown into an urban area that’s called home by millions of people.
Las Vegas, or roughly translated from Spanish as the Meadow, is a pure example of how you can create something out of nothing. And now, being one of the most recognizable cities in the USA and a popular tourist destination that welcomes around 40 million tourists annually, Sin City has become a bucket list destination for many.
Whatever brings you to Las Vegas, whether work or pleasure, or both, you’re probably aware that the most comfortable and by far fastest way to get there from New York is by a private jet. And that’s exactly what this article is about, so stick around if you want to learn more about the pricing, jet models, airports and FBOs, and more!

New York to Las Vegas: Overview
Planning a trip to Vegas is a fun and exciting endeavor, especially if it’s your first time going there. And even though there are some 2,500 miles between the two cities, a private jet needs around 5 to 6 hours to pass this route, which is not a lot considering the distance
Regarding the cost of the jet rental, I’d say you need somewhere between $35,000 and $45,000 for most light, midsize, and heavy jets. If, however, you don’t mind flying for a few hours longer, turboprops are a more cost-effective option. These planes, as the name suggests, have propellers outside of the engine cabin, which is why they’re a bit slower, and cost somewhere between $20,000 and $30,000.
As some of the USA’s most popular destinations, both New York and Las Vegas are abundant in fixed-base operators (FBOs), so you’ll have the option to choose the most suitable one for you.
Now that we’ve briefly touched upon the most important info, let’s dive deeper into each segment, first of which is the cost.

Pricing Options
One of the things that make private flying exciting is choosing the type of jet you want to fly with. There are many variables you should consider to make the right decision and get the most for your money, the most important being the number of passengers, the comfort you’re expecting, and the speed at which you want to reach your destination.
I recommend a midsize or heavy jet for this trip if speed and comfort are your top priorities. However, if you’re traveling by yourself or with a couple of other people, there are some fast and wide light jets, so you can check out our specific jet model recommendations further below in the article.
The prices you’re going to see below are taken from The Aviation Factory’s official website. Note that the prices to hire a private jet can vary a lot based on many factors such as speed, jet size and model, services included, and so on.
New York to Las Vegas Average Flight Prices
Aircraft type | Number of passengers | New York to Las Vegas route price | Estimated flight time |
Turboprop | 7 – 9 | $26,000 | 8 hours 45 minutes |
Light jet | 5 – 9 | $36,000 | 6 hours 10 minutes |
Midsize jet | 6 – 10 | $40,000 | 5 hours 30 minutes |
Heavy jet | 7 – 19 | $45,000 | 5 hours 20 minutes |
More or less, these are the prices. Don’t be fooled when you see a smaller jet category looking more expensive than a bigger one. As you can see from the table, a light jet seems to be $4,000 less expensive on average, than a midsize jet.
However, sometimes a smaller jet can be more expensive than its bigger counterpart, and the best way to discover the final price is to check it directly with the company offering the jets. Most probably, the light jets in their fleet are newer and hence make up for the price. In other cases, it has a lot to do with the seating capacity.
New York to Las Vegas Airports
New York is the most visited city in the States, so unsurprisingly, it has plenty of private terminals with 5-star services. Below, we’ll go over the FBOs that can be found in and around New York’s three main airports, those being John F. Kennedy (JFK), LaGuardia Airport, and Newark International, including New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport, and see what each of them has to offer.

From John F. Kennedy (JFK) to Las Vegas
I’m sure you’ve heard of the JFK airport, as it’s probably the most famous one in the world. This airport is usually the first choice of commercial flyers but is also an important hub for private flyers due to the solid number of fixed-base operators.
Sheltair Aviation JFK is a popular choice among private flyers. The company runs a separate facility with its own runway and is experienced in both FBO services and handling. It has worked with many VIP travelers in the past such as Royals and Heads of State.
The executive lounge is not that big but offers everything you might need such as access to the internet, catering, first-class concierge, or transportation services. The company also does under-the-wing work, so you can count on it for some fueling or jet maintenance.
Another first-class choice for an FBO could be Allied Aviation that has about 60 years of experience in the business. It’s a fixed-base operator which also offers services in handling, maintenance, fueling, or storage for your jet.
JFK is very easy to reach from NYC’s downtown since there are non-stop shuttles that will take you to the terminal of your choice. The distance you have to pass is around 20 miles, so beware that it might take you almost an hour and a half if traffic’s bad.
From New York Teterboro Airport to Las Vegas
I really like Teterboro Airport due to its New Jersey location. New Jersey is, in fact, the hack of New York, since it’s so close to Manhattan, and once you cross the Hudson River, you have more cost-effective options, including airport fees!
If we take Times Square as a starting point, Teterboro is much closer than JFK, as you won’t need more than 20 minutes to reach this rather small airport. But the best thing about it is that it’s home to many fixed-base operators and handlers.
Here’s a list of all the companies that offer FBO and handling services, and you can’t go wrong no matter which one you choose:
- Air Bound Aviation;
- Atlantic Aviation;
- Meridian Teterboro;
- Greenwood Lake Aviation
- Ross Aviation;
- Million Air White Plains;
- Linden Airport Management;
- Lynx FBO Network.
From New York LaGuardia Airport to Las Vegas
LaGuardia is the third-most-popular airport in NYC, used by some 25 million people annually. It’s a good choice for people based in Queens or the area because that’s where it’s located. If you’re based in Manhattan, LaGuardia might be pretty far away.
The standard fixed-base operator (FBO) at LaGuardia is Sheltair, located at the Marine Air Terminal. The company provides top-class FBO services such as pilot lounges, snooze rooms, shuttle and car transportations, internet access, and other amenities.
Since Sheltair is also a handler, you can seek ground services, jet maintenance, storage, or fueling.
From New York Newark Liberty Airport to Las Vegas
If you talk to New Yorkers, you’ll soon learn that Newark is the least popular airport in the city. It’s located in New Jersey, but just like Teterboro, it’s closer to Manhattan than JFK. However, it’s a bit complicated to get there, so keep this in mind.
But if you choose to take off from Newark Liberty, the official FBO there is run by Signature Flight Support. You can expect the very best from this company, as their facilities always have accessible Internet, showers, VIP suits, snooze rooms, as well as conference and meeting rooms.
Las Vegas Airports
The city of lights or sin, whichever you prefer, is a city of casinos and high-end hotels, so you probably assume that there are some pretty classy FBOs as well.
One of the best and personal favorites is run by Signature Flight Support at Vegas’ McCarran Airport. Since the city never sleeps, neither does the FBO. There is 24/7 surveillance on the facility, along with other services such as VIP concierge, snooze rooms, computers and internet, and so on.
At the same time, there’s a selection of special services, such as dry cleaning, Starbucks, ATM machines, newspapers, beverages, and cookies, making this airport a perfectly comfortable zone at the McCarran airport.

Which Jet Models Can You Fly to Las Vegas From New York?
The distance between New York and Las Vegas is such that it can be crossed by every type of jet. So, let’s go over some specific models to help you out in making a decision.
Small (Light Jets) and Midsize Jets
As mentioned, a turboprop will take the longest to reach Las Vegas. But if you do choose to fly with one, I’d recommend the Pilatus PC-12. This turboprop plane needs 7 hours and 45 minutes to reach Vegas, which is actually quite good for this type of jet. It can fit eight people inside and will cost you some $29,000 to rent via Air Charter Service.
If you’d prefer a light jet, I have the Learjet 60A in mind which needs 5 hours and 30 minutes to pass the route and can take up to eight passengers on board. It will cost you around $32,000 to rent.
But let’s focus more on midsize jets here, as they are indeed a better choice for this trip.
The Hawker 800XP is a great example of such a jet, as it needs 5 hours and 50 minutes to fly to Vegas from NYC. The price to rent it is pretty affordable at some $40,000, and the jet can fit nine people.
A bit faster option could be the Learjet 45XR. This one has a seating capacity of nine people, as the estimated flight time amounts to 5 hours and 25 minutes. To rent this jet, you’ll need around $46,000.
Furthermore, the Hawker 900XP would be a pretty solid option. You could rent it at some $47,000 and you can take seven more people with you. The estimated flight time from New York to Las Vegas is 5 hours and 35 minutes.
You could also consider the Citation X. This jet is very fast and it needs only 4 hours and 45 minutes to reach Vegas and can fit nine people inside its cabin. If you opt for this one, prepare to pay some $49,000.
Heavy Jets
A heavy jet would be great for such a route since the trip is long and could get a little uncomfortable if you’re not in a large cabin. . I have a few ideas in mind when it comes to heavy jets.
The Challenger 601 is one of my favorite jets that will take you from NYC to Vegas in 5 hours and 50 minutes. It has a huge cabin that can take up to 12 passengers. The price for this one is around $39,000.
A bit more expensive option for a heavy jet is the ultra-fancy Gulfstream G-IVSP. It will reach Vegas in 5 hours and 25 minutes while carrying a maximum of 16 travelers. You’ll need some $44,000 to rent it.
Finally, I’d like to recommend the Falcon 900EX. This one is quite expensive, costing some $65,000 to rent it. It has a very big walk-around cabin that fits twelve people and needs exactly 5 hours and 25 minutes to fly from New York to Las Vegas.

It’s very important that you remember how prices change constantly in this sphere, and that you should spend at least $26,000 on a jet, while the upper limit is very fluctuating. As you can see from the table above, there are jets that are worth $65K, but that figure can be even higher if you opt for a bigger and newer model.
The flight should take some five to six hours with every jet except for turboprops, which need around 7 hours or more.
