London to Geneva: Overview
Luckily, the distance between Britain’s capital and Geneva is not that great. There are about 650 miles of highway between them, so a car ride to Geneva would take about 11 hours. However, flying private will only take you an hour and a half on average. The flight might take longer than that with a turboprop plane, which is a great choice if you’re looking for a more cost-effective option.
The average cost to rent a jet from London to Geneva is anywhere between £4,500 and £17,000 (5,200 EUR – 20,000 EUR), depending on the type of jet you choose, or the company that will provide you with this service, and some other factors like the jet model, the time and date of your flight, and so on. That being said, you will notice that some jets can strongly overshoot the upper price limit, which is mostly due to newer jet models.
Taking off from London is quite easy, as there are dozens of private terminals you can choose from. Geneva is also doing well with FBOs (fixed-base operators), as there are terminals run by Jet Aviation Geneva, Signature Flight Support, and TAG Aviation.
Pricing Options
As seen from the Overview, you can expect to pay between £4,500 and £17,000, but there are much more expensive options for those who want to rent a heavy jet. Different service providers will also give you different prices, so take this into account as well.
For the purpose of this article, I’ve been using data from Private Fly, Air Charter Service, and The Aviation Factory.
Anyway, here are the average prices according to jet size for the London – Geneva route.
London to Geneva Average Flight Prices
Aircraft type | Number of passengers | London to Geneva route price | Estimated flight time |
Turboprop | 4 – 19 | £4,950 / 5,750 EUR | 1 hour 55 minutes |
Light jet | 2 – 11 | £4,650 / 5,400 EUR | 1 hour 30 minutes |
Midsize jet | 6 – 10 | £9,850 / 11,500 EUR | 1 hour 20 minutes |
Heavy jet | 4 – 96 | £8,550 / 10,000 EUR | 1 hour 25 minutes |
Don’t get confused if a turboprop plane is “more expensive” than a light jet, as there’s one thing to take into consideration here. A turboprop is a very cost-efficient option for larger groups. As you pay for the whole plane, and the passengers usually split the bill, a turboprop of £5,000 that can fit 15 people is cheaper than a light jet that can fit six people and costs £4,000 to rent.
On the other hand, a heavy jet with a seating capacity of 96 people is called an airliner, and you probably won’t have the need for such a huge plane. Most companies will offer heavy jets that fit up to 20 people on a route like this one.
London to Geneva Airports
London is full of airports and private terminals for you to choose from. Every airport has either its own FBO services or has such a facility within the building or in the surroundings. Geneva is also doing well with FBOs, so you’ll have some options to choose from.
From London Luton Airport to Geneva
London Luton is a very common choice among private flyers, as it will take you about one hour by car to reach it. The exact location can be found some 40 miles northwest of London’s Victoria Station, the main train and bus station.
As a private passenger, you need to choose one of their private terminals or FBOs. You’re lucky there since the ones present in Luton’s surroundings are big, modern, and equipped with the best amenities. In case you’re going for business and would like to have a quick briefing or meeting before you take off, there are conference rooms that you can use.
There are two private terminals near London Luton operated by Signature Flight Support, going under the names T1 and T2. You also have another option nearby that’s run by Harrods Aviation.
Biggin Hill Airport to Geneva
This is not an airport that pops right into your mind when you think about London. However, it’s a very nice private airport located only one hour by car from London’s city center. Biggin Hill itself offers FBO services in its spacious and luxurious lounges, where enjoy the time you spend there prior to your flight.
You can also use their air taxi services, in case you don’t wanna bother to reach the facility by car. This way, you’ll reach the city center from Biggin Hill or vice-versa in six minutes. At the same time, Signature Flight Support operates a private terminal right next to the airport itself.
Farnborough Airport to Geneva
I thought it’d be a good idea to include Farnborough Airport right after Biggin Hill, as they’re both private airports yet not so well-known. This one is located in Rushmoor, Hampshire, some 40 miles southwest of London’s city center, and serves mostly London’s greater area, as well as private passengers from all around the world. It’s a splendid airport which offers 5-star concierge services.
Most private flyers who use it are from the business sphere, so you can find many amenities that suit the needs of this class. This includes conference rooms, a fancy restaurant, and a well-equipped waiting lounge, to mention a few.
In case you don’t want to use the premises of Farnborough Airport, you can opt for TAG Aviation, an experienced company with a facility located right next to Farnborough.
London Stansted Airport to Geneva
London Stansted is a famous airport and perhaps the best option if you’re flying private. It’s located some 40 miles northeast of Victoria Station and has plenty of FBOs in its surroundings. Here are most of them:
- Fayair Ltd;
- Infinite Jet Center;
- X Jet London;
- London Jet Center;
- Universal Aviation;
- Diamond Hangar Ltd;
- Antonov Airlines UK;
- North Air Ltd;
- Harrods Aviation;
- Ruslan International;
- Titan Airways;
- London Jet Charter;
- Inflite The Jet Center;
- NATS Jet Stansted;
- Aeronexus;
- GT Engine Services;
- Swissport.
London Heathrow Airport to Geneva
The most popular international airport in London, and perhaps the whole of Britain, is Heathrow airport. Unlike Luton, Farnborough, or Biggin Hill, this one is only 15 miles away from London’s central area, which will take you some 30 minutes by car to reach it.
Although being a hub for mostly commercial flights, it attracts some private flyers as well. However, there aren’t a lot of choices when it comes to FBOs, as one would expect. The most convenient one to use is the Signature Flight Support private terminal, but if you want another recommendation, you could try out the one operated by Menzies Aviation.
Which Planes Can You Fly to Geneva from Each Category?
In the sections above, you’ll find the average prices for the 3 main categories of jets, including light, midsize, and heavy jets. However, in this chapter, we’ll go over particular models falling under each of the above-mentioned categories.
For this purpose, I’ll be using data provided by Private Fly and Air Charter Service.
Small and Midsize Jets (Turboprops, Light Jets, and Midsize Jets)
Since the distance between the two cities is not huge, every turboprop plane could be your option. This is not the case with overseas flights, where only a few are capable of doing the whole route.
A turboprop plane can save you money, since they usually cost less, and can fit more people. For instance, the Beech BE200 Super King Air costs £7,500 to rent from London to Geneva, and it can fit eight people inside the cabin, which is quite comfortable. The jet needs 2 hours to reach the airport in Geneva.
I wouldn’t recommend hiring an expensive turboprop jet for this route, as the Beech BE100 King Air for example. It costs £27,500, and while it’s quite luxurious, you can get a slick-looking wide midsize jet for that money, that’s even more spacious and will get you to Geneva faster.
That being said, a turboprop worth considering is Beech BE90 King Air, which can fit six people on board, and fly for 2 hours and 8 minutes for £7,900. It’s a bit more expensive than the BE200, but it also looks much nicer and has more space for the passengers.
A midsize jet, on the other hand, will take you to Geneva faster, and of course, offer even more room!
The Legacy 450 is a very nice-looking jet, designed to fly fast. With an average cruise speed of 575 miles per hour (MPH), you’ll land in 1 hour and 3 minutes, according to Private Fly. The jet fits eight people and costs £12,000 to hire.
If you want something slightly more cost-effective, I’d recommend the Citation XLS. This one will cost you £11,100 to rent, and it will only take about 15 minutes more than the 450 to get from London to Geneva. The aircraft can also get eight people on board.
However, if you don’t mind spending more money, and want to fly with style, maybe consider the Learjet 60. This is a pretty fast plane that needs 1 hour and 8 minutes to pass the route, but its strongest pro is the spacious cabin and comfortable seatings meant for six persons. Renting this aircraft will cost you £14,000.
Heavy Jets
Heavy jets are another option you could consider, especially if you’re flying with more people. They cost more, but the space that you’ll get is incomparable with the previous two categories. In some cases, a heavy jet can be cost-effective since they fit more people.
For example, the Challenger 850 is a great jet that costs £15,500 to rent. However, it fits 16 people, so, at full capacity, if each of the passengers pays their own “ticket”, it could be cheaper than renting a six-seater. The Challenger will take you from London to Geneva in 1 hour and 7 minutes.
A slightly faster option and a bit more expensive one would be the Bombardier Global 5000 that, according to Private Fly, will need 1 hour and 2 minutes to reach Geneva from London. The price tag on this one amounts to £17,400 and has a seating capacity of 13.

Conclusion
Now that we’ve reached the end, you’re probably already planning your trip from London to Geneva. The most important things to keep in mind are the prices and what factors affect them.
So, as seen from the text, you can find a jet for as “low” as £7,500, but there are also much more expensive and luxurious options that exceed £17,000.
Another important thing to do is find the best private terminal that will suit you in every way. Have a safe trip!
