London is visited by 30 million people per year on average, with tourism being the fastest growing industry in the UK. The British capital might not have many sunny days and warm breezes, but it offers its unique charm that attracts millions every year.
If you’re based or are currently in Milan planning to visit London, you probably know that the best and fastest way to get there is by private jet. In this article, I’ll cover everything you need to know about flying private to London, including jet prices, private airports, FBOs, and more, so stick around.

Milan to London: Overview
The two magnificent cities are some 800 miles away from one another, which isn’t that much. It would take you around 15 hours of non-stop driving if you choose to travel by road, but judging by you being here, you probably won’t.
By private jet, however, your flight shouldn’t last more than two hours, except if you opt for a turboprop plane. In a perfect scenario, you’ll fly from Milan to London in 1 hour and 40 minutes, and you’ll be glad to know that this is a route that every type of jet can cover, from light to heavy.
Money-wise, just like with every private flight, prices depend on many factors. Obviously, the biggest variable is the jet size and model. How fast is the jet? Is it a new model? If it is, it’s probably going to cost a lot more than a model from 10/20 years ago.
You can find a light jet starting from some 5,000 EUR / £4,200, while the upper limit really depends on your wishes. However, I’d say that 22,000 EUR / £18,500 is enough to rent a very nice heavy jet, although I will be recommending something above this price, as well.

Pricing Options
The prices you will see below are as seen on The Aviation Factory’s official website. They represent prices by jet size, which is a more general category, than let’s say, by jet model, which we’ll also cover below.
Milan to London Average Flight Prices
Please find below the average estimated prices for the Milan – London route.
Aircraft type | Number of passengers | Milan to London route price | Estimated flight time |
Turboprop | 4 – 19 | 7,500 EUR / £6,500 | 2 hours 25 minutes |
Light jet | 4 -11 | 5,000 EUR / £4,000 | 1 hour 50 minutes |
Midsize jet | 5 – 10 | 15,000 EUR / £13,000 | 1 hour 40 minutes |
Heavy jet | 4 – 96 | 18,000 EUR / £15,000 | 1 hour 40 minutes |
You can notice that a turboprop is more expensive than a light jet, although it needs much more time to pass the route. Is it really more expensive, though? Considering that turboprops have more seating capacity, a full cabin will definitely come out cheaper than a light jet.
Another thing worth mentioning is that a heavy jet of 96 seats most probably won’t be offered to you for this route. This is what we call an airliner and is rarely used by private flyers, except on very rare occasions when you have to transport lots of people, like in the case of a wedding or team building.
Now that you know the average prices per jet size, let’s see which airports are on offer.
Milan to London Airports
Milan is Italy’s second most visited city, which is why it has a well-built airplane infrastructure. There are three international airports that serve the needs of travelers, those being Milan Linate, Malpensa, and Bergamo which is a bit further away.
As the European capital of fashion, flying is also classy from and to this city. And since you’re searching for fixed-base operators (FBOs), know that there are more than enough to choose from.
Milan Linate to London
Milan Linate is pretty close to Milan’s city center, as it’s only 6 miles away. It’s easily reachable by public transportation, as bus no. 73 will take you from Duomo Piazza directly to the airport in 40 minutes maximum. If you decide to take a cab or drive yourself, you should be there in about half an hour.
While the airport itself offers VIP lounges and services, that’s also true for the FBOs in its surroundings, like the one run by Signature Flight Support which offers extraordinary service. Signature runs a separate facility, meaning that you will have your discretion and won’t have to walk through crowds like it usually happens when you visit an FBO situated within a commercial airport.
Another great choice is the private terminal run by Argos VPH General Aviation, which is a famous local (Italian) network of FBOs. Their facilities are clean, spacious, and equipped with comfortable minimalist furniture. Feel free to request any other sort of services such as catering, fueling if you’re flying with your own jet or hotel accommodation.
Sky Services is yet another famous Italian FBO network, which will definitely meet all your needs. It’s a highly developed company with its own facilities, and various types of services at its disposal, such as catering, concierge fueling, and others. At the same time, they provide amazing VIP lounges, “snoozing rooms” if you’re in for a nap, but also conference and meeting rooms if you’re in town for business.
Last, but definitely not least, is the Milano Prime private airport. Its palette of services is infinite, including VIP lounges, catering, concierge, dining rooms, conference rooms, and similar when it comes to customer-oriented services. Moreover, you can arrange a hangarage to store your jet, hotel accommodation, fueling, maintenance, and so on.
Milan Malpensa to London
The Malpensa airport is a bit further away than Linate, but easily reachable by both public transportation and car. There is a metro line that takes you there, while a car trip would last for about 50 minutes.
Private flying is made easy as each fixed-base operator that runs facilities near Linate, also has private terminals in the Malpensa region. Those companies are Signature Flight Support, Sky Services, Argos VPH General Aviation, and the very special and separate private airport Milano Prime.
Milan Bergamo to London
Bergamo is officially a separate town near Milan, located some 35 miles northeast, which translates into about an hour’s drive to the airport, from Milan’s city center. This airport, however, isn’t really the best choice for private flights, but if it’s the most convenient for you, you’ll find VIP lounges and fast tracks for people who don’t want to wait in line for their commercial flights.
London Airports
London’s doing even better than Milan in terms of private airports and fixed-base operators. In general, the city is served by three main airports, those being Heathrow, Luton, and Stansted, but there are some smaller private ones as well, very suitable for private flying.
London Heathrow
Although the most famous one, not only in the UK but in the world, it doesn’t really offer much regarding private flying. The airport itself offers VIP services, just like Bergamo in Milan does, but there aren’t many FBOs within or surrounding it.
However, if you’d still like to use the Heathrow area as your landing spot, as it’s the closest one to the center, there’s an FBO run by Signature Flight Support. This private terminal is no joke, as many VIPs have used it, from Heads of States to Royals. It offers beautiful lounges and highly professional staff, so don’t miss the chance to give it a look.
London Stansted
The Stansted airport is further away from the center but has a lot of FBOs in its surroundings. I’d say this is the reason why so many people choose this area for landing when flying private. Here are some of the many fixed-base operators it offers:
- Fayair Ltd;
- Infinite Jet Center;
- X Jet London;
- London Jet Center;
- Universal Aviation;
- Diamond Hangar Ltd;
- Antonov Airlines UK;
- North Air Ltd;
- Harrods Aviation;
- Ruslan International;
- Titan Airways;
- London Jet Charter;
- Inflite The Jet Center;
- NATS Jet Stansted;
- Aeronexus;
- GT Engine Services;
- Swissport.
London Luton
London Luton is another great choice for private flyers. While the airport is located a bit far away, about a 1-hour drive from Victoria Station, the central bus and train station in London, there is a good infrastructure for private flying.
Signature Flight Support is present with two terminals, the T1 and T2. They are both equipped with state-of-the-art furniture, wide premises, conference rooms, and whatnot. The T1 is especially famous as it’s the busiest FBO in Europe, and has been voted best by the readers of Professional Pilot magazine, the company claims.
Which Jet Models Can You Fly to London From Milan?
Regarding size, all jets have the range capacity to pass the route from Milan to London, so let’s see which models from each category would suit you best. Are you in for speed or comfort, or both? Maybe you’d rather travel longer but for less money? Don’t worry, I have an option for everyone.
Before we continue, please note that the prices you’ll see are not fixed. They could vary from company to company, and can change based on other factors such as date and time of take-off, whether the staff will wait until you fly back to Milan or not, and so on.
Small and Midsize Jets (Turboprops, Light Jets, and Midsize Jets)
The first category comprises smaller jets, usually with a capacity of up to 9 people, although turboprops usually have a slightly bigger capacity.
A turboprop plane you could consider is the Beech BE200 Super King Air which can take eight people on board. It’s obviously slower than other jets, as it will need 2 hours and 30 minutes to pass the route. The price is quite affordable, costing some 8,500 EUR / £7,100 to rent.
A faster turboprop but with a seating capacity of six passengers is the Piaggio P180 Avanti. This jet needs only 2 hours and 3 minutes, according to Private Fly, to reach London. This is quite impressive for a turboprop. The price to rent this one amounts to some 11,000 EUR / £9,300.
A light jet, on the other hand, that would be great for this trip is the Citation CJ1. It will cost you around 10,000 EUR / £8,400 via Air Charter Service and you can take 5 more people with you. The CJ1 business jet needs 1 hour and 50 minutes to fly from Milan to London.
If you want more class, go with the Citation Mustang. This one has a capacity of “only” four people, guaranteeing extreme comfort. The price to rent it also orbits around 10,000 EUR / £8,400 and you’ll be flying for 2 hours and 5 minutes before reaching London.
On the other hand, if you’re in the mood for something bigger, like a midsize jet, consider the Citation XLS. This jet will take you to London in 1 hour and 28 minutes and can take eight passengers in its wide cabin. It will cost a bit more, around 13,500 EUR / £11,400.
If you’re willing to pay a little more than that, but arrive a bit earlier, go with the Legacy 450. This one also fits eight people inside but will pass the route in 1 hour and 17 minutes. If you opt for this one, be ready to pay some 14,000 EUR / £11,800.
Heavy Jets
A heavy jet is what you need if you want to travel in real style and comfort. Usually, the service is much better as these jets are big enough for you and the staff to move comfortably around, have a comfy dinner, or even sleep on a nice sofa.
The heavy jet that I really like is the Challenger 850. I like the value you get for your money, as this one can take 16 people on board, and fly from Milan to London in 1 hour and 22 minutes. The price is not that high for a heavy jet, amounting to some 21,000 EUR / £17,700.
A different, slightly more expensive option is the Legacy 600. This jet has a seating capacity for 13 people and needs 1 hour and 23 minutes to reach London. The price you’d have to pay for this jet is around 22,000 EUR / £18,500.
Finally, those with deeper pockets should consider the Bombardier Global Express. This is a very spacious plane, with a walk-around cabin and the capacity to take 12 people on board. It’s a bit more expensive than the others, as you’ll have to spare some 24,500 EUR / £20,600. The estimated flight time is 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The price range is wide just like you’d expect from private jets. You can rent a jet for as “little” as 5,000 EUR / £4,200, but depending on your wishes, it can easily reach over 20,000 EUR / £16,800.
The estimated flight time is about 2 hours or less, except for a turboprop plane which needs more time. If you find a jet that will take you in an hour and a half, it’s a good one.
Lastly, regarding private terminals, both Milan and London have a well-developed private flying system, so you won’t have trouble finding FBOs in either of the two beautiful cities.
