Company History

Dreamline Aviation is a California-based aircraft operator and broker led by Chief Executive Officer Mark L. Schmaltz.

But before Dreamline Aviation was created, Mark L. Schmaltz first co-founded the charter company Spirit Aviation with Kurt Kohler, back in 1983. After the company was sold in 2006 to an East Coast operator, the co-founders, with 23 years of experience in the industry, later established Dreamline Aviation.

The company now offers a tailored jet card program, ideal for those who often fly from and to Los Angeles or San Francisco Bay area terminals. Dreamline Aviation makes private flying even more affordable for clients who fly out of Dreamline Aviation’s Home Airports, located in Van Nuys, Oakland, and San Carlos.

Pricing

To become a member of the Great Circle program, you only need to deposit $50,000 and there are no membership and initiation fees. The deposit amount that you will not use is 100% refundable. You will get guaranteed availability with fixed hourly pricing, and you can utilize more than one plane simultaneously.

Empty Leg Flights

The term “empty leg charter” refers to a flight where one leg is booked while the other is vacant – without passengers. You may learn more about empty legs and other special offers on their website, or you can sign up and get a weekly listing of their empty leg flights. The flight dates, the itinerary, the aircraft model, and the flight duration are listed on their website, but you must request a quote to receive the price.

Membership Program – Great Circle

The Dreamline membership program Great Circle offers reduced one-way and roundtrip fares for flights originating from or returning to airport terminals within 75 miles of one of their Home Airports. When flying out of one of their Home Airports, you will get even more savings as a member.

As we mentioned, you need to make a minimum deposit of $50,000 to begin enjoying the perks that come with being a Great Circle member. Whether you’re flying one-way or roundtrip, your trip is only a phone call away. All you need to do is phone a Dreamline Aviation representative and tell them when you wish to travel and which jet you’ll require. If you’re unsure which aircraft type is the best choice for your trip, they will gladly recommend one based on your specific route and preferences. You’ll receive travel invoices that are plain and transparent, and if your amount runs out, you can always reload it.

The company operates its own fleet and offers a higher level of consistency compared to charter brokers. They offer roomy twin-turboprops, and sumptuous light and midsize jets.

This membership program is tailored to private jet passengers flying out of or towards Southern and Northern California airports. You can travel throughout North America, including Mexico, the Caribbean, and Canada.

Home and Base Region Airports in Southern California

When flying out of or returning to Van Nuys, Southern California’s Great Circle Home Airport, members can take advantage of Great Circle’s lowest one-way and roundtrip fares.

That being said, Dreamline Aviation recognizes that flying out of or returning to an airport other than the Van Nuys is more convenient for some travelers. As a result, Great Circle provides Base Region fares to clients who fly into an airport within 75 nautical miles of one of the Home Airports.

Base Region Airports include:

  • Burbank, Los Angeles, Camarillo,
  • Long Beach, Santa Barbara, Ontario,
  • Santa Ana, Ventura, and Santa Monica.

Home and Base Region Airports in Northern California

In this part of California, members can fly to San Carlos, California; or lease a jet at Oakland – both destinations being Home Airports for Dreamline Aviation. The Base Region Airports, on the other hand, include Concord, Hayward, Livermore, Modesto, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, and Santa Rosa.

What Does the Hourly Rate Fee Cover?

The hourly rate includes landing fees, basic catering, wi-fi, and repositioning costs. Fuel costs, de-icing or special hangar, third-party expenses, foreign fees, airspace fees, and taxes are not included in the hourly rate price.

All aircraft have a one-hour minimum daily fee for one-way travel. The daily minimum for roundtrip travel is two hours for jets and one and a half hours for turboprops.

The company requires a 48 hours’ notice to ensure a booking. Minimum notice is 72 hours when traveling during a peak season, like during some holidays.

You must give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel your flight or pay a fine of $3,000.

Chartering a Jet

Their team of professionals, flight planners, and aircrew swiftly respond to provide their clients with flight solutions suited to ther individual needs.

Give a flight sales director your route and your preferred cabin size by calling Dreamline Aviation, available 24/7. They’ll assist you with your itinerary and help you choose drinks, food, and in-cabin entertainment for your flight. You will receive a complete trip verification page that includes your unique flight number, staff names, itinerary specifics, and catering and ground handling information.

Moreover, any necessary ground transportation is scheduled and coordinated by the company.

The Fleet

Dreamline Aviation offers a wide choice of private jets for charter across the world. Intercontinental aircraft range from turbojet engines and lighter jets to midrange and heavy jets. The Van Nuys airport and the San Francisco Bay region are homes to Dreamline’s fleet, so let’s see what they have to offer.

1. Turboprop

Turboprops use a mixture of jet engines and propellers to fly. They’re a safe option, combining speed with accessibility. Turboprops are best used at low and medium altitudes and make a viable option for domestic flights and locations with short runways.

Our Recommendation: King Air 200

The King Air, formerly known as Super King Air, is manufactured by Beechcraft and has been transporting travelers for more than 50 years. Whether you’re flying with your family for vacation or a work trip, each King Air turboprop will meet your expectations.

Specifications:

  • Passengers: 7;
  • Cabin height: 4 ft 10 In;
  • Cabin width: 4 ft 6 In;
  • Cabin length: 16 ft 2 In;
  • Baggage space: 54 cu ft (Interior);
  • Rate of climb: 2450 fpm;
  • Flight range: 1490 nm;
  • Max speed: 290 kts;
  • Galley;
  • Two desks.

Besides King Air 200, Dreamline Aviation also offers King Air B200 as part of their turboprop aircraft fleet.

2. Light Private Jets

Light private planes are an excellent choice for trips to regional locations that are only a couple of hours away. They’re good for up to 1,000 miles of short-distance travel. Light planes can comfortably seat seven people and are often equipped with air conditioning.

Our Recommendation: Learjet 35 A

In 1973, Bombardier Learjet introduced the Learjet 35, an American corporate jet and troop transport plane. It offers reduced fuel use, greater range, and higher cruising speed compared to other models. The Learjet 35A was discontinued in 1993 after more than 600 units were produced.

Specifications and amenities:

  • Maximum passengers: 7;
  • Cabin height: 4 ft 5 in;
  • Cabin width: 4 ft 11 in;
  • Cabin length: 12 ft 10 in;
  • Flight range: 2,000 nm;
  • Flight speed: 515 mph;
  • Luggage space: 51 cu ft;
  • Wireless internet;
  • Lavatory.

The Learjet 35 A is the only light jet Dreamline Aviation offers.

3. Midsize Private Jets

Midsize planes offer greater capacity and endurance than the previous jet categories. They feature greater headroom and legroom, making them a good choice for extended trips with multiple travelers.

Our Recommendation: The Learjet 60

Bombardier Aerospace produced the Learjet 60 from 1993 until 2012. It’s a popular jet among private flyers, frequently used for work and leisure trips.

Specifications:

  • Passengers: 8;
  • Cabin length: 17 ft 7 in;
  • Cabin hight: 5 ft 9 in;
  • Cabin width: 5 ft 8 in;
  • Internal baggage: 55 cu ft;
  • Aircraft range: 2,685 nautical miles;
  • Cruise speed: 521 mph.

Other than Learjet 60, Dreamline Aviation also offers Learjet 45 and Learjet 45XR as part of their turboprop aircraft fleet.

4. Large Private Jets

Heavy aircraft are designed to provide more comfort as their cabins are very spacious and usually better equipped. Heavy aircraft are king size planes, with seating for 8 to 18 passengers. They can continuously fly eight to twelve hours, making it possible to fly across the country without refueling.

Our Recommendation: The Bombardier Challenger 604

Passengers on the Challenger 604 get the best in-flight experience. This plane features ten articulating seats that you can adjust, lots of standing space, and large windows for cabin lighting.

Specifications:

  • Passengers: 10;
  • Cabin height: 6 ft 0 In;
  • Cabin width: 7 ft 11 In;
  • Cabin length: 25 ft 7 In;
  • Internal baggage: 115 cu ft;
  • Rate of climb: 4345 fpm;
  • Max speed: 470 kts;
  • Max range: 4000 nm.

Other than Challenger 604, Dreamline Aviation also offers Falcon 900 C as part of their turboprop aircraft fleet.

Aircraft Management

Owning a private plane is a significant upgrade to one’s lifestyle. With a personal plane, you can reclaim control of your schedule and make flying more efficient and pleasant. However, maintaining a private jet can be a lot of work. Dreamline Aviation takes the responsibility out of your hands, and ensures your private jet or turboprop is taken care of and ready to fly at a moment’s notice.

With Dreamlines’ management solution, you will get a unique management program customized to your preferences. You will also benefit from the 24/7 customer service, maintenance, staffing, and significant charter revenue. They also provide flight operations management and accounting services.

Company Safety Policy and Standards

For over four decades, Dreamline has prioritized safety in all aspects of its operations. The company has IS-BAO Stage 2 (International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations) certificate and has received a Platinum rating from ARG/US. Only a few companies that implement the industry’s highest standards and practices in flying and maintenance operations are Platinum certified.

The Director of Safety at Dreamline is in charge of the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and equips every section with constantly developing mechanisms for detecting possible safety hazards. The Director of Safety also leads a Safety Committee, which regularly gathers to evaluate and improve safety protocols in each area.

The pilots go through simulator-based training. Each pilot also receives extensive ongoing training following the company’s demanding operating and safety protocols.

The company uses a Flight Risk Assessment Tool (FRAT) to determine a safety score for each flight leg, based on airport information, pilot experience, and aircraft performance.

Conclusion

Dreamline Aviation is run by a group of aviation specialists who have almost 40 years of experience in aircraft asset management and global flight operations. The company operates its own ARGUS Platinum Rated fleet, thanks to their stringent safety measures.

Gulfstream, Falcon Jet 900C, Challenger, Learjet, the innovative Honda Jet, and King Air twin-turboprops are among the aircraft that’s managed and operated by Dreamline.

Thanks to it’s Great Circle membership program, Dreamline is an excellent choice for passengers who frequently fly to and from California.
