FXAIR is a relatively new private charter company that started operations in 2020. The company has grown exponentially since then, partly due to the increasing popularity of private air travel with the COVID-19 pandemic.

FXAIR is a part of the Directional Aviation family of companies founded by Ken Ricci, which includes Flexjet, Sentient Jet, PrivateFly, Tivoli, and FXAIR, as well as Nextant Aerospace (jet manufacturer) and Sojourn Aviation (jet sales firm). It provides a charter membership program and on-demand private jet leasing. Let’s take a look at these services in more detail, but first, a word about the company itself.

About the Company

FXAIR is a newly founded firm owned by Directional Aviation, with Andrew Collins as the CEO and Gregg Slow as the president, headquartered in New York City.

FXAIR doesn’t have its own fleet and instead utilizes Flexjet’s fleet and other third-party operators. Through its Aviator Program, FXAIR gives its customers priority access to their desired planes – even on days when demand is high. The aircraft in the FXAIR system are provided by companies that adhere to the highest safety requirements, which frequently go beyond FAA guidelines.

Company Membership Program

FXAIR’s entry-level membership program, the Aviator Account, allows you priority access to Second Generation Flexjet aircraft. You can also take advantage of some special incentives and deals developed exclusively for regular flyers, such as priority booking on busy travel days.

A minimum of $100,000 investment is required to activate this membership program. As a member, you will get free catering and complimentary local Wi-Fi, as well as no-cost deicing and free upgrades when available. If you book at least a week ahead, you can fly across the United States on a super-mid cabin aircraft for a fixed charge of $32,000. Your account balance doesn’t have an expiration date, and you can get a refund on the membership fees.

On-Demand Charter Flight

Their on-demand charter services provide a wide range of private jets, including light, medium, super-mid, heavy, and ultra-long-range jets. FXAIR gives you access to second-generation (retired) Flexjet aircraft, available for rent only through FXAIR, but serviced and operated by Flexjet.

FXAIR also offers access to over 1,200 aircraft from respected and reliable flight operators.

The Fleet

Their fleet is made of retired Flexjet jets and includes the Nextant 400XTi, refurbished by Nextant Aerospace, another Directional firm,  twelve Bombardier Challenger 300s, and five Global Express aircraft.

1. Light Private Jets

This type of aircraft is ideal for short domestic trips with no more than seven passengers. Light jets are quick and effective when you’re traveling to local airports. On top of that, they can easily land at hard-to-reach locations, like mountaintops or tiny runways.

Our Recommendation: The Nextant 400XT

The Nextant 400XT is one of the fastest jets, faster than any other jet in its class. The ergonomic design of the cabin maximizes room and performance to increase passenger comfort, and the jet itself is well equipped and easy to manage.

Specifications:

  • Passengers: 6-7;
  • Cabin height: 4 ft 9 in;
  • Cabin length: 15 ft 6 in;
  • Cabin width: 4 ft 11 in;
  • Max range: 2005 nm;
  • Max speed: 471 kts;
  • Internal baggage: 31 cu ft;
  • External baggage: 25 cu ft.

FXAIR also offers Citation CJ3, Citation V, Hawker 400XP, Learjet 45, and Phenom 300 in the light category of jets.

2. Midsize Private Jets

Midsized aircraft are ideal for longer personal or business travel since they offer more range and comfort. With characteristics like extensive baggage space and improved cabin height, these jets are ideal for journeys requiring more endurance.

Our Recommendation: The Citation Excel

The Citation Excel serves as a standard model for all other midsize aircraft. It has a large cabin with plenty of baggage room. Because of its comfort, efficiency, and durability, it’s the preferred jet for medium-distance travel. It’s a great choice for business travelers because it functions like a sky-high conference area.

Specifications:

  • Passengers: 8;
  • Baggage capacity: 90 cu ft;
  • Cabin width: 5 ft 5 in;
  • Cabin height: 5 ft 7 in;
  • Cabin length: 18 ft 6 in;
  • Flight range: up to 4.5 hours;
  • Cruise speed: 487 mph.

In the FXAIR fleet, you can also find Hawker 800/850/900XP, and Learjet 55/60 as part of the midsize jet category.

3. Super-Midsize Private Jets

Super-midsize jets combine convenience and aesthetics. If you are flying with a larger group or traveling cross-country, it’s the perfect aircraft class.

Our Recommendation: The Falcon 50

With a roomy cabin, sophisticated leather upholstery, and a complete micro kitchen, the Falcon 50 has the range and elegance of a much larger jet and provides travel satisfaction and luxury. The Falcon50EX is a big aircraft suited for mid-range trips when you need to carry more luggage.

Specifications:

  • Passengers: 9;
  • Baggage capacity: 115 cu ft;
  • Cabin length:  23 ft 5 in;
  • Cabin width: 6 ft 1 in;
  • Cabin height: 5 ft 9 in;
  • Max cruise speed: 478 mph;
  • Flight range: 5+ hours.

In the FXAIR fleet of super-midsize jets, you can also find Challenger 300/350, Citation Sovereign, Citation X, and Gulfstream G200.

4. Large Private Jets

Large jets provide the finest private jet flying experience for intercontinental flights. They can transport bigger parties as they offer enough space and comfort for up to 15 people.

Our Recommendation: The Gulfstream GIV

The sophistication, luxury, and safety of Gulfstream jets are well-known, so it’s not surprising that the GIV has earned a reputation as a premier domestic and international business jet. Individually reclining chairs, a four-person meeting table, and a comfy sofa are all included. There are comfortable beds for up to six persons in the cabin.

Specifications:

  • Passengers: 14 seats/6 beds;
  • Flight range: 3,880 nm;
  • Luggage space: 169 cu ft;
  • Cabin width: 7 ft 3 in;
  • Cabin length: 45 ft 1 in;
  • Cabin height: 6 ft 2 in;
  • Cruise speed: 548 mph.

In the FXAIR fleet of large aircraft, you can also find Challenger 601/604, Falcon 900EX, Falcon 2000EX, and Gulfstream G450.

5. Ultra-Long-Range Private Jets

An ultra-long-range aircraft is the finest alternative when you want to travel long distances in the lap of luxury. Nothing beats an extremely long-range aircraft for worldwide flights. This is the way to fly if you’re planning an overseas trip that demands range, power, and comfort, especially if it’s with a bigger party as they can easily accommodate 13 or more passengers. These planes include amenities such as a full kitchen, TVs, kingsize beds, lavatories, and separate places for sleeping, dining, working, and entertaining.

Our Recommendation: Gulfstream GV

The Gulfstream GV was the company’s first ultra-long-range business jet, manufactured by Gulfstream Aerospace in 1995 and released in 1998. The production ended in 2002. The GV’s most noticeable feature is its wide flight range and enhanced performance.

Specifications:

  • Passengers: 12-16;
  • Cabin length: 50 ft 1 in;
  • Cabin width: 7 ft 3 in;
  • Cabin height: 6 ft 1 in;
  • Cabin volume: 1669 cu ft;
  • Max speed: 585 mph;
  • Flight range: 7389 miles;
  • Baggage volume: 226 cu ft;
  • Crew: up to 5.

In the FXAIR fleet of ultra-long-range jets, you can also find Global Express, Falcon 7X, Global 6000, and Gulfstream G550/G650.

Company Safety Policy and Standards

All operators that transport for FXAIR — including every pilot and jet — are thoroughly checked to assure your safety and complete satisfaction. They must meet the company’s requirements in order to be FXAIR approved.

What does it mean to be FXAIR approved? Before your flight, the specialized safety team thoroughly inspects and authorizes the operator, crew, and plane. FAA and NTSB reports, pilot records and certificates, flying experience, medical certification, aircraft licensing status, and aircraft insurance are all checked prior to each flight.

Every flight is reviewed at least 24 hours before takeoff for probable service or safety concerns. The Command Center is in charge of overseeing the entire activity. If a criterion is not met, the flight is cancelled and you’re given another operator that meets all the criteria.

Moreover, to guarantee passengers’ safety, all aircraft operators in the FXAIR network are required to follow rigorous COVID-19 guidelines.

Conclusion

FXAIR

Although newly founded, FXAIR came from the long-established Directional Aviation family, so the people who run it have more than enough experience in the aviation industry. Specializing in on-demand charter flights, the company offers second-generation Flexjet aircraft that are FXAIR approved. You can choose from their big fleet of light, mid and super mid, large, and ultra-long-range jets, making FXAIR a worthy choice as an on-demand charter company.
