Due to its immense beauty and perfect weather, Tenerife is one of the most popular destinations for travelers. It’s the largest and most populous island of the Canary Islands, a volcanic archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean, where you can also find the highest mountain in Spain.
No matter when you decide to visit this gem of an island, you’ll be welcomed with warm and sunny weather. The winter months, however, are said to be the best time to travel, with temperatures ranging between 20°C and 25°C. And, of course, the best way to get there from London is by private jet.

London to Tenerife: Overview
Even though the island does indeed belong to Spain, it’s actually physically closer to Africa, only 300 km away from Morocco. From London, Tenerife is over 2,200 miles away, which is around 4 hours of flight time, unless you’re flying with a turboprop which needs up to 6 hours to get you there.
The average cost of the flight is hard to estimate due to the plenty of variables that impact the final price. Prices start at around £17,000 (19,800 EUR) and can easily exceed £40,000 (46,600 EUR), for a heavier and fancier jet. Of course, if you choose the latest heavy jet model or an even bigger aircraft, it can be considerably more expensive.
As a private flyer, another thing you’ll need is a nice FBO (fixed-base operator) to take off from and land at. London has around five airports, including both commercial and private, most of which offer FBO services or have such facilities nearby.

Pricing Options
The prices to hire a jet can vary a lot, as I briefly explained in the previous chapter since they depend on many variables. Some of them include time and date of the flight, jet size or model, services included, and so on.
However, some companies, such as Private Fly, or The Aviation Factory, will give you a price estimation for a required flight. This is not the case with other private flight companies that will make you “request a quote” before they tell you how much your flight might cost.
Anyway, here’s what The Aviation Factory says regarding the prices, based on the 4 jet size categories. Private Fly has a bit pricier options, but also more aircraft available.
London to Tenerife Average Flight Prices
Aircraft type | Number of passengers | London to Tenerife route price | Estimated flight time |
Turboprop | 6 – 19 | £19,950 / 23,300 EUR | 6 hours 15 minutes |
Light jet | 4 – 11 | £17,550 / 20,500 EUR | 4 hours 15 minutes |
Midsize jet | 6 – 10 | £19,200 / 22,450 EUR | 4 hours 5 minutes |
Heavy jet | 4 – 96 | £19,750 / 23,100 EUR | 4 hours |
A couple of things here to bear in mind. Yes, a turboprop seems to be the most expensive one here, but if you divide the figure by the maximum number of seats, you’ll see that it makes more sense. When it comes to the heavy jet, although it says it can fit 96 passengers, you’ll probably get offered one that fits around 20 passengers. The bigger ones are called airlines and you don’t really need them unless you’re flying with the whole company, sports club, extended family, etc.

London to Tenerife Airports
Both the London and Tenerife airports have seen a fair portion of private flyers, so the infrastructure and other necessities for such an adventure are already prepared. Let’s see what airports and FBOs you can use in London.
From Farnborough Airport to Tenerife
Let’s start off with Farnborough, which serves as a private airport a bit outside of London’s borders. It’s located some 40 miles southwest of Victoria Station, the central bus and train station in London, and it technically belongs to Rushmoor, Hampshire. This is a high-class private airport, so you should expect VIP treatment in a stunning facility.
Most people who fly from Farnborough are from the business sphere, which is why the airport comprises conference and meeting rooms, a fancy restaurant, and everything a business traveler might need. Needless to say, the purpose of your trip doesn’t have to be business-related for you to use this airport.
Anyway, there is another option for take-off if you find yourself at Farnborough, and that’s the TAG Aviation FBO, located right next door. This airline company has been active for over 50 years, so you can expect excellent service.
From London Luton Airport to Tenerife
More or less the same distance as Farnborough in regards to London’s city center, but in the northwest direction, lies the London Luton Airport. A famous airport operator known for many domestic and international flights.
While London Luton itself doesn’t have a fancy private terminal, there are companies running such facilities in its surroundings. For example, two of them are operated by Signature Flight Support, on both ends of London Luton, called the T1 and T2 FBO. There is another FBO you might like, offered by a different provider – Harrods Aviation.
The terminals are quite stylish and spacious with plenty of room for fancy lounges, a restaurant, a conference room, and so on, perfect for both business and leisure travelers.
From London Heathrow Airport to Tenerife
This might come as a disappointment, but although London Heathrow is the most famous and busiest airport in the UK, it’s not the perfect choice for private flyers. The airport only has a couple of FBOs, which is a shame knowing that it’s the closest one to London’s central area, measuring only 15 miles distance, or a 30-minute car ride.
Despite the few FBOs on offer, like the ones run by Signature Flight Support and Menzies Aviation, you should expect nothing less than excellent facilities and service.
From Biggin Hill Airport to Tenerife
Just like Farnborough, Biggin Hill is a private airport located outside of London, some 16 miles southeast of central London, or a one-hour drive. The operator is an FBO itself, offering all sorts of concierge and VIP services, including air taxis that can take you from the central area to the airport in only six minutes.
The facility comprises luxurious and spacious lounges, where you can relax and order food, snacks, drinks, and even get your laundry done. However, if you want another option, right next to the Biggin Hill airport building you have an FBO run by Signature Flight Support, which also offers helicopter transport and exceptional service.
From London Stansted Airport to Tenerife
Saving the best for last, and I’m saying that because Stansted seems to be the hub for private flyers in London. While this airport lags behind Luton and Heathrow in regard to international flights, it has a lot of FBOs in its area.
In only 40 miles northeast of London’s central area, you can find the following private terminals:
- Fayair Ltd;
- Infinite Jet Center;
- X Jet London;
- London Jet Center;
- Universal Aviation;
- Diamond Hangar Ltd;
- Antonov Airlines UK;
- North Air Ltd, Harrods Aviation;
- Ruslan International;
- Titan Airways;
- London Jet Charter;
- Inflite The Jet Center;
- NATS Jet Stansted;
- Aeronexus;
- GT Engine Services;
- Swissport.
Tenerife Airports
Tenerife has two airports managing the departures and arrivals to the island – the northern one, and the southern one. The one on the south, Reina Sofia Airport, is the biggest and most popular one that’s in charge of most of the international commercial flights. The northern one is called Ciudad de La Laguna Airport but it’s not used as much, so let’s see what the Regina Sofia Airport has to offer.
Reina Sofia Airport
Airport North, or Reina Sofia Airport, has a few FBOs in its surroundings that you could consider when flying to Tenerife. The most convenient service provider here is AviaPartner Executive, which offers a high-end facility nearby.
The company provides all sorts of passenger-oriented services such as helicopter transfers, WiFi, open bar, concierge, VIP lounges, and more, so expect first-class treatment. Other providers of FBO services, according to Business Air News, are:
Which Planes Can You Fly to Tenerife from Each Category?
Now, let’s get into the specifics of the cost to charter a private jet by going over some jet models that can take you from London to Tenerife. The aircraft are diverse in price, seating capacity, and size, so it’s up to you to choose the best option.

Small and Midsize Jets (Turboprops, Light Jets, and Midsize Jets)
The distance from London to Tenerife is not to be underestimated, but the 2,200 miles between them could be covered by any type of plane, including a turboprop one. With a turboprop plane, the trip will last longer, but the price will come out lower.
The Pilatus PC-12, a well-known turboprop that I often recommend, can take up to six people for some £16,900 (19,900 EUR) to Tenerife. The total trip will last 5 hours and 45 minutes, according to Private Fly’s official website, as it’s the fastest turboprop plane that the company offers. Another of such sort is the Beech BE350 KingAir that needs only 3 minutes more than the PC-12 but can take two more passengers on board. The price to rent this jet is some £20,400 (24,000 EUR).
A light jet with the propellers inside the engine cabin will take you from London to Tenerife much faster. One of my favorites is the Learjet 75 which only needs 3 hours and 53 minutes to reach the island. It has a seating capacity of 8 and costs around £23,000 (27,000 EUR) to rent.
A faster option would be the Embraer Phenom 300. The jet costs about £20,800 (24,500 EUR) to hire and can seat seven people. It seems cheaper than the Learjet 75, but in fact, if both planes get a full cabin, the price per person would be cheaper with the 75. Anyway, you’ll reach Tenerife in 3 hours and 44 minutes with this jet.
If you want true speed and comfort, you better throw an eye on some midsize or super-midsize jets. Such is the Citation Sovereign, which has a wide round cabin that can comfortably fit eight people. The flight time with this jet amounts to 3 hours and 55 minutes and costs some £25,000 (41,200 EUR) to hire.
But if you’re in for a really fancy offer, and have some £43,100 (50,700 EUR) to spend, give the Hawker 4000 a look. The jet can fit 9 people in its walk-around cabin and will fly from London to Tenerife in about three and a half hours.
Heavy Jets
A heavy jet is what you really need if you want to take your flight to the next level, and get maximum comfort and luxury.
Consider the Legacy 600 if you want a fast yet affordable option, with plenty of room for your party. It can fit 13 people and will get you to Tenerife in 3 hours and 44 minutes. This beautiful heavy jet will cost you around £38,300 (45,100 EUR).
A bit faster option is the slick-looking jet named Challenger 850, and it’s quite a catch! The price of this heavy jet is very attractive, amounting to some £39,000 (46,000 EUR), and can get 16 people on board. All it needs to get from London to Tenerife is 3 hours and 40 minutes.
A more expensive option I’d recommend is the fabulous Bombardier Global 5000. This jet will cost you around £41,700 (49,000 EUR) and can fly 13 passengers to Tenerife in 3 hours and 19 minutes.
Finally, the big shot in the game – Falcon 7X. This incredible jet can be yours to rent for some £43,500 (51,200 EUR). The jet can fit a maximum of 13 persons and needs 3 hours and 31 minutes to fly from London to Tenerife.
