Private jet charter is sweeping the corporate world and with good cause. Time is money for any growing business, and private aircraft can save time without sacrificing comfort. But with so many options to choose from, how do you decide on a charter company?
We think it’s the details that make a charter make or break. At Able American Jets, attention to detail is a top concern. They promise a maximum degree of safety and an entire open validation process before flying.
As a result, Able American Jets is one of the few Wyvern authorized brokers. Wyvern was established in 1991 by a team of safety-conscious experts who developed The Wingman Standard for thoroughly evaluating air charter companies. The goal is to assist private jet companies in developing and implementing efficient safety strategies.
Operating for over 35 years, Able American Jets has a reputation for safety, integrity, and agility.

Empty Leg Flight
Purchasing empty leg flights is a great way to reduce the costs of private air travel.
The phrase empty leg refers to a plane that’s either on its way to or back from a voyage, with no people on board. Families, organizations, and charter brokers can book empty leg flights for as low as a fourth of the entire fee.
The term empty leg does not apply when there are paying passengers travelling round-trip.
The best thing about empty leg flights is that anyone can book them, whether you’re a member or not. Just contact an Able American flight organizer, and if you are flexible with dates, they have a better chance of arranging an empty leg flight.
The Fleet

In 2001, Able American Jets had two FAA Air Carrier Certificates and managed 12 Jets, a GE CJ 610, and CF 700 jet engine refurbishment facilities, four turboprop King Airs, and 24 ground ambulances. Since then they also manage and operate aircraft from many carriers, for your flying pleasure.
As a Wyvern licensed broker, they have access to a diverse fleet of aircraft stationed across the United States, with aircrews available 24/7.
You can book light, midsize, super-midsize, and heavy jets for your trips, so let’s see how they all differ.
1. Light Private Jets
Light jets can access remote locations, thanks to their small size and excellent maneuvering capabilities. If you are travelling to a destination with a small runway, like a tiny island or a rocky mountain, a light jet would be your best option.
Our Recommendation: The Learjet 45XR
The Learjet 45 XR is a light jet manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace from 1998 to 2013. Even though Learjets are not known for their spacious cabins, the Lear 45XR is surprisingly roomy.
Specifications and performance:
- It can accommodate up to eight passengers;
- The cabin volume is 475 cubic ft;
- The cabin dimensions are 19’8″ x 5’1″ x 4’9″ ft;
- Luggage capacity is 65 cubic ft;
- An aircraft range of 2,120 nautical miles;
- A cruise speed of 535 mph.
Besides the Learjet 45XR, Able Americans’ light private jet catalog also features Hawker 400XP and Citation Encore.
2. Midsize Private Jets
Midsize private jets can take you on trips that last more than four hours, without having to stop for fuel. They have a longer range than light jets, but come at a cheaper price than heavy jets. You also get enough baggage space for you and your companions.
Our Recommendation: The Hawker 800XP
The Hawker 800XP is a midsize jet, manufactured by Hawker Beechcraft from 1997 to 2005. The 800XP provides you with a vast amount of space even when fully loaded.
Specifications and performance:
- It can easily accommodate eight passengers;
- The cabin volume is 723 cubic ft;
- The cabin dimensions are 21’3″ x 6′ x 5’8″ ft;
- Luggage capacity is 48 cubic ft;
- An aircraft range of 3,038 nm;
- A cruise speed of 488 mph;
- Each chair has its LCD touch screen to regulate temperature, lights, and entertainment.
Besides the Hawker 800XP, Able Americans’ midsize private jet catalog also features the Learjet 60XR.
3. Super-Midsize Private Jets
If you like the midsize jet class, let us take you one step up further and introduce you to the super-midsize class.
Super midsize aircraft usually feature larger cabins and storage space compared to midsize jets and can fly nonstop for more than seven hours. These qualities make super-midsize jets perfect for bigger travelling parties, around nine passengers, and cross-country travel.
Our Recommendation: The Citation X
Citation X is a long-range aircraft designed specifically for transcontinental trips and a member of the Super Midsize Jet class, manufactured by Cessna from 1996 till the present. It is the largest existing member of the Citation family, and it’s the world’s third-fastest passenger plane that’s currently in production.
Cessna managed to squeeze a transatlantic range into a mid-size package with Citation X. According to Cessna, the Citation can save passengers around an hour thanks to its high cruising speed (between 150 and 200 km/h).
Specifications and performance:
- It can accommodate up to nine passengers;
- The cabin volume is 725 cubic ft;
- The cabin dimensions are 23’7″ x 5’6″ x 5’7″ ft;
- Luggage capacity of 82 cubic ft;
- An aircraft range of 3,300 nm;
- A cruise speed of 605 mph;
- The luggage compartments are heated and pressurized;
- A private lavatory that doubles as a dressing room;
- A full galley;
- A closet for coats and small bags.
Besides Citation X, Able Americans’ super-midsize private jet category also features the Challenger 300.
4. Large Private Jets
Large jets, also known as heavy aircraft, can fly for more than seven hours without stopping for fuel, similar to the previous jet class. But unlike super-midsize jets, they can carry up to twenty people, making them ideal for a larger group of passengers.
Larger aircraft have a greater center of gravity, and as a result – less turbulence. This allows you to have a very comfortable and pleasant flight. That’s a big plus on our checklist.
Our Recommendation: The Falcon 2000
The Falcon 2000 is a member of the heavy jet class, manufactured by Dassault Aviation in association with Alenia (an Italian company), from 1993 to 2000. Adorned with one of the biggest cabins in its class, flying with Falcon 2000 is extremely pleasant and comfortable.
Specifications and performance:
- It can accommodate up to 19 passengers;
- A cabin volume of 1449 cubic ft;
- The cabin dimensions are 31′ x 7’7″ x 6’2″ ft;
- Luggage capacity of 135 cubic ft;
- An aircraft range of 3,380 nm;
- A cruise speed of 530 mph;
- A full-service galley;
- A private lavatory and a dressing room.
Besides the Falcon 2000, Able Americans’ heavy jet catalog also features the Challenger 604.
